21 Tegrity’s Impact Pedagogy: Tell Me Show Me Let Me Try!
Tegrity is PERFECT for my teaching style!

22 Tegrity’s Impact Tegrity has been a great asset for me and for my students! Over two semesters, enrollment in the class that I used Tegrity in tripled! Fall 2009: 22 students enrolled Spring 2010: 37 students enrolled Summer 2010: 67 students enrolled (Previous average for this course was 23 students)

23 Tegrity’s Impact My students demand it now, and they get
upset if I do not record a lecture!

24 Tegrity’s Impact Select Student Comments:
“I love Tegrity. When I had to miss a couple classes due to my mom’s surgery, I was able to go back and view the lectures to see what I missed.” -Jen “I can review things I was not clear over in class, you can rewind and make Ms. Kolen repeat it until you get it.” -Andrew “Tegrity makes it easier to take my notes, I’m not worried about missing anything!” -Riley “It’s like going to class twice, except the second time it’s at your own pace.” -Robert “Can you please make my Calculus teacher use this thing?!?!?” -Jason

25 Tegrity’s Impact Select facts: Midterm Exam, Spring 2010 (worth 100 points) Taught 2 sections of same course Average (all students/all classes): 78 Average for class with no Tegrity: 72.1 Average for class with Tegrity: 83.9 Within group: Average for students watching 10/10 lecture videos: 88.9 Average for students watching 5/10 lecture videos: 84.2

26 Questions / Comments For more information: Tegrity representatives can be found in booth 313 in the exhibit hall.

27 What will we talk about? Types of Digital Capture hardware at MCC
What do I do with this “stuff”? What do we create at MCC? OK, I created content, now what? What’s Next?

28 Digital Capture equipment at MCC
SMART Technologies Interactive Whiteboards: MCC Has both 4:3 and 16:10 versions, however Currently we only invest in 16:10. SMART Technologies Interactive Slates/ SMART Podiums: Used in many different disciplines. Ex. Geoscience and Physical Education

29 Digital Capture Equipment cont.
Samsung Document Camera: SAMCAM 860

30 What do I do with this “stuff”?
“Stuff” has different meanings to faculty: It is either the hardware they use or the content they create My job as a technologist is to show the faculty how they can use the hardware and what they can create with it Get beyond terms like “stuff” or “this thing”

31 What content do we create?
Digital notes- PDF, PowerPoint, SMART Notebook Some Lecture capture Digital versions of lectures via Interactive Whiteboards, and Document Cameras Use digital equipment as teaching tools, ex. Collaboration, video conferencing

32 Example of HD Capture

33 OK, I created content, now what?
We taught them how to use the equipment to create the technology Now the Faculty will work with our Instructional Designers to learn what to do next The key is to be there for the faculty every step of the process from how to use the hardware, create the content with the hardware, and then use the content

34 What’s next? Continue to work with faculty as we move forward with more Interactive Whiteboard installations and online offerings increase We have created a “Safe Room” for faculty Work on projects incorporating Mobile Devices into content creation, ex. iPad integration.

35 Online Faculty Training at MCC
