2 While the type of paint does not play an extremely crucial role when painting the interiors of your house, it most definitely does for the exterior of your house. Interior painting is mostly done as a cosmetic addition, that is, to increase the aesthetic and glamour value of your home. There are only three primary genres of exterior paint finishes that are available on the market:

3 1.Flat Finish This type of finish is porous and does not reflect light. If you are looking to paint an old property, the flat finish exteriors can help you hide all the imperfections of the old walls. However, since it is very porous, its durability is not very reliable. For this reason, try to avoid using this kind of paint on windows, doors, railings, etc. 2. Satin Finish This finishes the most popular paint type for exterior house paintings. This type is neither too shiny nor too dull. It has a characteristic sheen that is subtle. Also, to top all of its advantages, it is a low-maintenance paint that can be kept clean with occasional pressure washes. Satin finish paint has proven to be more durable when compared to flat finish paints, but is not durable enough to be used for painting doors, windows, railings, etc.

4 3. Gloss Finish This kind is the most heavy-duty among all of the finishes. However, if you paint your exteriors completely in glossy finish, it might make your house look too shiny and plastic. Its glossy finish reflects light, and unintentionally magnifies all possible flaws of the walls. Therefore, it would be better to stick with a glossy finish only for doors, windows, railings, door and window frames, etc. Basically, you can use a glossy finish on any part of the house exterior that you wish to highlight.
