2. Alliteration
When a number of words are close together and all begin with the same consonant sound.
 Squawking seagulls swoop on sunbathers.

3. Onomatopoeia a word which imitates the natural sounds of a thing.
The buzzing bee flew away.

4. Rhyme Scheme
The pattern of end rhymes in a poem, written out as letters, such as AABB or ABAB.
My cat is nice. My cat likes mice. My cat is fat. I like my cat.
A A B B
My cat is nice. My cat is fat. My cat likes mice. I like my cat.
A B A B

5. Repetition
 repeats the same words or phrases a few times to make an idea clearer.
Because I do not hope to turn again Because I do not hope Because I do not hope to turn…

6. Metaphor
Comparison between two things that are usually opposites but have some characteristics common between them. 
The assignment was a breeze. (This implies that the assignment was not difficult.)

7. Simile Compares two or more objects using “like” or “as”.
The water well was as dry as a bone.

8. Hyperbole an exaggeration of ideas to emphasize a point.
Your suitcase weighs a ton!
It probably does not really weigh a TON, but it might be really heavy!

9. Personification
a figure of speech in which a thing, an idea or an animal is given human attributes.
The wind whispered through dry grass.
The flowers danced in the gentle breeze.

10. Stanza
A group of lines in a poem, separated by space from other stanzas, much like a paragraph
As I was walking a ribbon of highway
I saw above me an endless skyway
I saw below me a golden valley
This land was made for you and me.
