Region 3 ESC Student Support February, 2015

2 Grant Opportunity Region 3 has been selected to be one of 10 region centers in the state to be a recipient of a grant to implement Restorative Discipline on our campuses. Campuses who choose to take advantage of this grant will receive in- depth training at Region 3 by the University of Texas Restorative Discipline Initiative. This offer includes a 2-day administrative overview and a 5-day training session for campus discipline coordinator(s) and follow up through the implementation year at no cost to the district. Specific information regarding this grant opportunity will be available soon.

3 What is the Goal of Restorative Discipline?
The goal of Restorative Discipline is to change the school climate rather than merely respond to student behavior.

4 What is Restorative Discipline?
Restorative discipline is: a prevention-oriented approach that fosters consensus-based decisions to resolve school conflict such as bullying, truancy and disruptive behavior a relational approach to building school climate that promotes belonging over exclusion social engagement over control meaningful accountability over punishment
