The W.H. Auden rap by Ben Tobias, Elliot Guerbaii, Greg Leconte & Dom Shahani

2 As I Walked Out One Evening down Bristol Street
I felt like spitting rhymes on this Auden beat My name is Ben, I'm in the studio with Dom, Greg and Elliot Rapping about our favorite poet, and we'll be yelling it:

3 (WE LOVE YOU AUDEN!!!)

4 Wystan Hugh Auden was born in the north near York
At age four, he showed a little interest in Old Norse He went to school to do his learning down in Birmingham Working on his early poetry and now we're learning them

5 An Oxford student from Christ Church college
Literary genius with historical knowledge A lavender marriage with Erika Mann She wanted a passport, he wanted America, man!

6 Auden adored the company of men In his poems he wrote a lot about them
He didn't fancy girls cause he prefered dudes He refers to it in Funeral Blues

7 He used to write about Love and Time
Expressing his thoughts in lines that rhyme W's writing is quite diverse He writes songs, ballads and even free verse Searched all around for the Truth About Love Possibly still is, looking from above He was a Civil war horse in a war-torn Spain A witness of the moments of yesterday's pain

8 We consider him a legend among the poetic greats
Like T.S. Eliot, Lord Tennyson and even Yeats We wrote this rap so that we could show it W.H. was no Auden-ary poet

9 Lay Your Head my dear, here on my pillow
Or just come and join me Underneath the Abject Willow Cause it's Mr. Greggie repping for the MC Must I rewind and remind you rap is poetry Yeah, my flow is free and I suggest if you want more You go and see... Dommy Shahani

10 He uses clocks to represent time
Vivid metaphors you can hear them chime Look into the past, you'll detect the Romans Same thing happens if you read Selected Poems

11 (AUDEN) x8

12 AUDEN IS AWESOME.
