Active Data needed a scalable and mostly automated cloud service on which to build its newest product, WhenNow. Active Data needed an infrastructure that was far more integrated than the others. While the company did have the internal talent to piece together an IaaS from various and sundry “cloud parts,” Active Data preferred something that was already built, flexible, and ready for production.

SOLUTION
Active Data used Microsoft Azure to form a constellation of computer and storage assets that allows Active Data to plan costs and scale performance as its products gain traction. Instead of setting up clusters of SQL databases and managing them individually, Active Data built a robust data platform on Azure’s SQL database PaaS and now simply allows Microsoft algorithms to help tune and grow the dataspace. Active Data’s front end relies on Microsoft’s Web Apps to handle inbound load and to auto-scale accordingly; no other cloud solution offered all of the features Active Data needed.
