1 How do organisms reproduce

2 Let us understand how an organism gives rise to offspring similar to itself…..

3 Organism gives rise to young ones (offspring) similar to itself
REPRODUCTION It is a biological process in which an organism gives rise to young ones (offsprings) similar to itself. Organism gives rise to young ones (offspring) similar to itself

4 Types of Reproduction Sexual Asexual

5 Asexual Reproduction A type of reproduction that involves only one parent and produces offspring that are genetically identical to the parent.

6 Asexual Reproduction in Amoeba

7 New plants are formed from parts of parent of plant
Asexual Reproduction New plants are formed from parts of parent of plant A single parent is capable of producing offspring. The offsprings that are produced are not only identical to one another but are exact copies of their parent i.e, morphologically and genitically similar.

8 Sexual Reproduction Process in which two cells, termed gametes, come together to form one fertilized cell that contains genetic information from both parental cells is called as sexual reproduction.

9 SUMMARY Reproduction Asexual sexual
In both plants and animals the process in which two cells with nuclei---one from each of two parents— fuse and the resulting offspring inherits a set of chromosomes from each parent, resulting in a unique individual. A type of reproduction that involves only one parent and produces offspring that are genetically identical to the parent.

10 Asexual Reproduction Cell division Binary fission Mode of Reproduction
Special types of structures Zoospores Cell division Binary fission Conidia (Penicillium) The process in reproduction and growth by which a cell divides to form daughter cells The process by which a bacterium multiplies by splitting in two. Buds (Hydra) Gemmules (sponge)

11 Special types of structures

12 Sexual Reproduction Juvenile Phase Reprodution phase Senescence phase The end of Reproductive phase can be cosidered as one of the parameters of senescence or old age.
