Example: You start with 5m (under the “u”). How many centimeters are in 5m? Start under the “u” for meters, and move to the right two spaces to end at centimeters. This tells you to move the decimal in 5m two spaces to the right to find out how many centimeters that would be. If you move the decimal in 5.0 two spaces to the right, you end up with Therefore 5m = 500cm!!
Example: You start with 150mm (under the “u”). How many decimeters are in 150mm? Start under the “m” for millimeters, and move to the left two spaces to end at decimeters. This tells you to move the decimal in 150mm two spaces to the left to find out how many decimeters that would be. If you move the decimal in two spaces to the left, you end up with Therefore 150mm = 1.5dm!!
