John saw the Lamb’s wife, the holy city, the new Jerusalem

3. Revelation 21 Verses 1-8 AFTER: the judgment of the great harlot
AFTER: the 1,000 year reign
AFTER: heaven and earth fled away (20:11)
AFTER: the judgment of the dead
THEN: John saw the New Heaven, New Earth
First heaven and first earth passed away. No more sea
God makes all things new (21:5)
New Jerusalem comes down from God, out of heaven as a bride.
God dwells with men.
I will be his God and he will be My son (Eph. 1:5)

4. Revelation Overcomers
2:7 & 22:7 I will grant to eat of the Tree of Life which is in the Paradise of God
2:11 & 20:6&14 He will not be hurt by the 2nd death, the Lake of Fire
2:17 & 19:12 God will give some of the hidden manna, and a white stone, a new name written on that white stone which no one knows but he who receives it. (Jesus has an unknown name)
2:26 & 20:4 …and he who keeps My deeds until the end, to him I will give authority over the nations
3:5 & 22:14 Clothed in white garments/ have the right to the Tree of Life because they have washed their robes

5. Revelation 21:9 – 22:5
John is carried away to a great and high mountain
This holy city is a gift from God to us
This holy city has God’s glory
This is the future of the Lamb’s Bride
21:2 She is joined with the New Jerusalem
21:2…as a bride adorned for her husband
21:9 She is the wife of the Lamb
22:17 Spirit and the bride say, “Come”
Contrast: John was in the wilderness when he was taken to see the harlot’s judgment. He is taken to a great high mountain to see the New Jerusalem/wife of Christ/ The Bride

6. New Jerusalem Great High Wall
12 Gates – 12 single Pearls – 12 Angels – 12 Tribes
12 Foundation Stones – 12 Precious stones – 12 Apostles of the Lamb
Angel had a gold measuring rod to measure the city, its gates and its wall. (11:1-2 John measures)
Shaped like a square: 1,500 miles
Walls are 72 yards
Streets are pure, transparent gold
No temple in it (vs. 3): The Lord God Almighty and The Lamb ARE its temple and Light
Never dark for there is no night

7. Nations 21:24 The nations will walk by the light of the New Jerusalem
21:24 The kings of the earth will bring their glory into the New Jerusalem (only righteous of the nations. The rest are in the Lake of Fire)
21:26 The king’s glory IS the nation’s glory and honor
22:2 The leaves of the Tree of Life are for the healing of the nations. (healing from what?)
The nations are people other than Israel

8. Outside the City
21:8 Cowardly, unbelieving, abominable, murderers, immoral persons, sorcerers, idolaters, all liars
21:8 Second death – Lake of Fire – Outside the City
21:23 Must be dark since there is no sun or moon
21:25 Always night. Opposite of inside the city
21:27 Unclean. Those who practice abominations and lying live there
21:27 Those NOT written in the Lamb’s book of Life
22 Still the curse of sin, not the blessed, still wrong and filthy, don’t see God’s face, did not heed the words of this book: judged

9. The Curse Gen. 3 and Rom. 8 The serpent was cursed for deceiving Eve
The ground was cursed because of Adam’s sin
ALL creation groans for its release from futility
NO MORE CURSE in the New Jerusalem
God makes all things new
The Curse is Sin

10. Rev. 1 and Rev. 22
1:1 & 22:6, 16 God sent His angel to show His servants things which must soon take place
1:3 & 22:7 Blessed is he who heeds the words…
1:3 & 22:7 The time is near/ I am coming quickly
1:8 & 22:13 I am the Alpha and Omega
1:10 & 12 – 22:18 I, John, am the one who heard and saw these things
1:11 & 22:10 Write in a book what you see/Do not seal up the words of the prophecy of this book
1:5 & 22:6 Jesus is the Faithful Witness/ These words are Faithful and True
1:17 & 22:13 I am the First and the Last

11. Invitation and Warning
“Come” is used to call others to partake of Life
The Spirit and the Bride invite ALL to hear & come
Let the one who hears COME
Let the one who is thirsty COME/Take the water
Warning: Nothing unclean comes into the New Jerusalem (21:7)
DO NOT take away or add to the words of the prophecy of this book.
God will take away your part in the Tree of Life and the Holy City.
Plagues of this book will be added to you

12. Application Why study Revelation? You are promised blessing
The events in this world should be exciting; not fearful
God is in control of our world (Rev. 17:17)
I AM an overcomer (Rev. 12:11)
We are called to be able to give an answer for our faith (I Pet. 3:15)
We now know there is an urgency to share Christ
Can you say with John, “Come Lord Jesus?”
