1. POP-UP BOOK ABOUT THE BRAIN!
Adapt a fairy tale into a pop-up book explaining the brain

2. You are going to create a children’s pop-up book that explains the brain and its functions. You will have in-class time but you may also need to work on this at home. After a series of lessons, activities, and using your book and notes, you will need to formulate how you will translate that information into a fairy tale pop-up book for children. Some pages should have pop-ups, pull tabs, and illustrations while others do not.

3. Requirements 1) Cover with creative title, picture and authors’ name
2) A minimum of SIX color illustrations
3) A minimum of THREE “extra features” (popup, pull-tab, fold- over, etc).
*requirements 2 and 3 can be met simultaneously.
4) Explain the function of the following parts of the brain:
a. Hindbrain (Cerebellum, Medulla, Pons)
b. Midbrain
c. Forebrain (Thalamus, Hypothalamus, Cerebral Cortex)
d. Limbic System (Thalamus, Hypothalamus, Amygdala, Hippocampus)
e. Lobes (Occipital, Parietal, Temporal, Frontal)
5) Explain the importance of:
a. Good sleep habits
b. Taking care of your brain (avoiding injury, avoid drugs, etc)

 Meeting all requirements (10 pts)

5. Hansel and Gretel example on Defender Wall:
Story must be included like I have done. You can alter the story, but remember, it must be appropriate for children.
I chose to describe what is happening in the brain, but there are many different ways this book can be done.
