2 The Sea and the Land 1. Greece is a peninsula about the size of Louisiana in the Mediterranean Sea. 2. It’s very close to Egypt, the Persian empire (includes Turkey) and Rome.

4 The Sea and the Land 3. The Geography of Greece had much to do with the way the early Greeks lived. 4. Short mountain ranges cut up the Greek mainland making it difficult for the Greeks to develop a sense of unity

5 The Sea and the Land 5. Greek communities often times developed independently because of the mountains, thus they were diverse. (think don’t write) As a result, do you think they fought a lot or helped one another?

6 The Sea and the Land 6. Rivers in Greece were short and did not aid travel or trade between villages. 7. As a result, separate city-states arose.
