1 Westerly Hills Academy 2015 Fall Curriculum Night
7th Grade

2 Grade Level Expectations
All students are expected to be ready, respectful, and responsible in the classroom, as well as all other parts of the school building. All students are expected to adhere to the school-wide uniform policy (addressed on the next slide) We are working to plan some exciting field trips for your scholars. We would like for all of our scholars to be able to attend. Please be looking for that information to come home, be signed and returned.

3 Westerly Hills Academy Uniform Policy
Pants should be navy blue, black or khaki traditional cut Shirts should be a polo style collared shirt in navy blue, light blue, black, or white and should not contain any sayings or logos. Skirts and shorts should be longer than the fingertips when arms are at your side. Sweaters should be solid navy blue, light blue, black or white and should not contain any sayings or logos. Students are permitted to wear jeans on the 1st and 4th Friday of the month, but jeans must be paired with a school spirit shirt or a polo style shirt in the colors mentioned above. Headbands not uniform color, hats, and other headgear are not permitted. Girls wearing headbands should be uniform color. Disciplinary actions will be taken for students who fail to adhere to the uniform policy.

4 The 7th grade team uses Class Dojo to track and monitor positive and negative student behaviors.  Please connect with us on Class Dojo so that you too can monitor you scholar’s classroom behavior as well as message their teacher.  If you leave your address with their teachers, we can send you an invite to get connected and gain real-time information on how your scholar is doing.

6 7th Grade Language Arts Students should complete homework assignments from Mondays through Thursdays by reading ten pages in their novels and writing one Independent Reader Response each night. This assignment will be collected each Friday. Also, students should spend ten minutes per night reviewing their Cornell  notes in order to prepare for quizzes and tests.

7 7th Grade Math Quarter 1: Operations of rational numbers (integers, fractions, decimals) Quarter 2: Expressions and equations (one and two-step) and proportional reasoning Quarter 3: Geometry( area and circumference, surface area and volume) Quarter 4: Probability and statistics

8 7th Grade Social Studies

9 7th Grade Science Quarter 1 – Earth Science (weather & atmosphere)
Quarter 2 – Physical Science (energy & simple machines) Quarter 3 & 4 – Life Science (cells, body systems, genetics, & heredity) Students should have a composition notebook to keep their notes in.
