New Features and Enhancements
What’s New New Features and Enhancements The following enhancements are available in the Rotary Tube Pro 2.0 release: What’s New Same Size Branch and End Intersections on Round Tube For branches and pipe intersection end styles that are the same size as the main tube, a very snug fit is now possible, particularly when using Perpendicular cutting. This improvement is useful when creating multiple round tube sections from the same size stock that will later be joined together. Branch Intersections - With Near Outside branch intersections, where the branch rests on the outside surface of the main tube, a very close fit can now be accomplished. Common intersection elevation angles ranging from 45° to 90° to 135° are fully supported. This is most beneficial for Perpendicular cutting. In addition, creating a new tube from the Near Outside branch, end geometry will maintain the same snug fit with the main tube branch hole. About Overview Features Enhancements Settings Preferences Limitations How to Question & Answer Product Road Map End Intersections - For ends with the Pipe Intersection style, where the intersecting tube is the same size as the main tube, the end now fits more closely when mated with the intersecting tube.

Features Cut without Rotation (v2.0) What’s New About Overview
RTP has a new option to Cut without Rotation on Branch 90 degrees and Cutouts. RPT positions the torch to the center of the profile, turn off rotation, rapids to the pierce point, cuts the profile, then rapids back to the center of the profile and turns rotation back on. The cut is done as an I-cut perpendicular. Eliminates excessive bevel motion when cutting small diameter cutouts < 2”/ 50mm. Better project shape cut results than with bevel or perpendicular cutting modes. What’s New About Overview Features Enhancements Rules for Cut without Rotations Main Pipe Round Tube/Pipe Bevel or Perpendicular types No Step file import of cut without rotation Cuts should be within 60% of the center of the pipe to eliminate cut height issues. Branches: Round or Rectangle - OK Elevation=90, Offsets OK Intersection type: Near inside / Near outside only, Cutouts Type: Any Circle, Rectangle, Polygon, including DXF files Intersection Type: Projected only Offsets – OK No Arrays – Single cutout at a time Settings Preferences Limitations How to Question & Answer Product Road Map

Enhancements Issues using True Bevel settings
True Bevel settings were developed for plate cutting Using one single Bevel angle at a time from a selected list of Bevel angles. (+- 15, 17.5, 20, 22.5, 25, 27.5, 30, 35, 37.5, 40, 45) Using a constant Clearance Height which changes the Cut Height for each bevel angle. Bevel angles are established in leads or loops away from part geometry. Setting a feedrate for optimal bevel cutting RTP Gradual Bevel Profile RTP bevel cutting require gradual bevel angle changes along a single profile Commonly from 0 to 45 to 0 to -45 and back to 0 all along a single profile Gradual bevel requires a constant Cut Height Changing the Cut Height while bevel cutting on a profile can damage the part. Gradual bevel requires synchronized multi-axis motion for smooth transitions Reducing feedrates helps synchronize axis motion What’s New About Overview Features Enhancements Settings Preferences Limitations How to Question & Answer Product Road Map
43
Enhancements New Max Bevel Feedrate setting in CFF

Limitations Mechanical Limitation: Gradual Bevel Cutting (changing bevel angles on a profile) RTP bevel cutting can require gradual changing bevel angles from 0 to 45 to 0 to -45 to 0 on a single profile Synchronized multi-axis motion. The Bevel pivot length affects the synchronize motion of each axis. The CFF Max Bevel Feedrate helps assures the synchronized axis motion, by controlling the Max feedrate that allows synchronized motion. Constant Cut Height – changes in Cut Height while profile cutting leaves a blemish on the part. True Bevel settings are based on a constant clearance height which changes the Cut Height for ever bevel angle. Adjustments to the Bevel parameters xls maintain a constant cut height based on the Height of a 45 bevel. Minor adjustments to True Bevel compensation can be made to handle the change to a constant cut height. Projected on cutouts in perpendicular cutting is not blocked, so check layout for desired outcome. Finished part may not be as desired. The “Don’t Rotate” option in this scenario, how does this fit in with the above. The tube will be rotated to the center of the cutout, then rotation is turned off, the cutout is cut (as if on flat plate) then moves back to center and rotation is turned back on. Height sensing is used to follow the curve of the tube. The Process Parameters would have to handle the varying thickness of the cut. Questions & Answers When would a Pipe List XLS be changed or supplied? This file is referenced in the Preferences (and stored in C:\ProgramData\Hypertherm CAM\Rotary Tube Pro) but not installed in a RTCA Both the PipeList (inch) and PipeListMM (metric) spreadsheets files are supplied with the initial install of RTP. They contain some stock sizes of Pipe and Tube. The End User can edit and add to the list for pipe and tube sizes they process. Which XLS sheets are referenced (PP XLS or Pipe List XLS) when these variables are selected? . . . Material & Class (PP XLS) The Material should be selected by End User to best match the material and wall thickness of the tube/pipe. This is required as the tube/pipe wall thicknesses don’t necessarily match with standard plate thickness that we have process parameters setup. So the material & thickness have to be selected separate from the wall thickness in order to select the process parameters The Process Parameter and Bevel spreadsheets are used to determine the cutting conditions “Type”, “Description” & “Wall” (Description Sch# Gauge) (Pipe List XLS) The Pipe list spreadsheets list some of the common Pipe and Tube dimensions What’s New About Overview Features Enhancements Settings Preferences Limitations How to Question & Answer Product Road Map

Questions & Answers What is the Main Tube option “Cut” with “Perpendicular” or “Bevel” used for? On a Bevel Setup, this option lets you cut the main tube without rotating the bevel head, it would cut the entire part as if it was a non-bevel head setup. Are there any plans for either a 2D or 3D Cut Simulation feature? Cut Simulation is on our potential feature list, it is tentatively scheduled after 3D Cad part import and Linear nesting. Questions & Answers Is it possible to create the following with a Bevel setup to cut the angles in the indicated area . . . Not with the current version, the bevel angles are automatically set by from the contour of the intersecting branches. We are adding a 3D Cad part import option 1st QTR 2015 that should cut as imported. Questions & Answers The “Tube with Rounded Rect Issu.rpd” file has two issues, I cannot see how to move the Lead in to a sensible position and a curve on the rounded rectangle is appearing . . . Leadin locations are setup by Settings/Plasma/Leads. No manual moving of leads is available at this time. The 3D Model format for the part is not in a format that we could use a routine like Advanced Edit. Layout View, is it possible to re-order the cut sequence (see problem job illustrated below with some additional questions) . . . Cuts Sequence is setup by Settings/Cut Sequence. No manual resequencing is available. The 3D Model format for the part is not in a format that we could use a routine like Advanced Edit. Questions & Answers The layout view is displayed upside down, here the arrows show the End2 which should be cut first, then the scribing and then the End 1 (Chuck) would be cut last . . . Why is the layout view upside down. . . The layout looks correct, it’s just that the rotation of the Model on the screen is rotated different than how it will lay out at the machine. Looks like the end cut on the side of the “E” in Example is End2 which will cut first, then scribing, then End1 What are Settings – Rapid Rate & Spindle Speed used for? It is a setting that could help control the speed of the rotation of the tube to not exceed the rotation restrictions What’s New About Overview Features Enhancements Settings Preferences Limitations How to Question & Answer Product Road Map
