A system is an entity which maintains its existence through the mutual interaction of its parts.

2. Types of systems: Open = matter and energy can freely flow in and out
Closed = open to energy, closed to matter
Isolated = closed to energy and matter

3. What makes systems work:
Different parts with processes that transfer matter and energy among them
Reservoirs = parts of a system where energy (any type) and matter are stored
Flux = the flow (transfer) of energy and matter
