2 A few questions have been asked…
How did the thief on the cross get saved without being baptized? How did Cornelius get saved before he was baptized with water? Why did Paul say that the Lord did not send him to baptize but to preach the Gospel?

3 An angel of God comes to Cornelius
Acts 10:1-8

4 Peter has a vision Acts 10:9-16; 11:4-10

5 The Spirit tells Peter to go with the messengers… Acts 10:17-23; 11:11-12

6 After arriving in Caesarea, Peter meets Cornelius - Acts 10:24-33

7 As Peter begins to speak…
Acts 10:34-46 He describes the events as they happened "As I began to speak, the Holy Spirit fell upon them" - Acts 11:15 Peter commanded them to be baptized... Acts 10:47-48; 11:17-18 Cornelius and his household were commanded to be baptized in the name of the Lord

8 When was Cornelius saved?
Do we remember what Cornelius was told? Peter would tell him "what you must do." - Acts 10:6 Peter would tell him "words by which you...shall be saved.” - Acts 11:14  Cornelius was saved after he heard and obeyed. What he was told to do Concerning belief - Acts 10:43 Commanded to be baptized - Acts 10:48

9 The purpose of the Spirit falling upon Cornelius is revealed in the text.
The effect on Jewish brethren and Peter's response - Acts 10:45-47 The reaction of the Jewish brethren in Jerusalem when told what happened - Acts 11:17-18 Peter's recounting the events at the Jerusalem conference - Acts 15:7-11 The purpose was to show “those of the circumcision”… God “shows no partiality” - Acts 10:34-35 God had “granted to the Gentiles repentance to life”- Acts 11:18 Gentiles could be saved in the same way as Jews...

10 The purpose of the Spirit falling upon these individuals…
Was not to show that someone could be saved without baptism… But to show that Gentiles were no longer to be considered "common" or "unclean", And would be granted the same opportunities to hear the gospel and be saved by it!

11 Will you be saved in the “same manner”?
Mark 16:15-16 Acts 2:38 Acts 8:12 Acts 9:18; 22:16
