3 ENGR 122 Design Expo Culminating event where you and your teammates show off your work to a panel of judges. 10 minute presentation that includes: Product concept Product demonstration Process taken to get to solution Hardware components (cost, function, fabrication, etc.) Software interface to hardware (flow diagram of program, how it works, key commands used, etc.) Capabilities and limitations of the product Economic viability analysis (parts & labor costs, unit cost of product,, suggested retail price, etc.) Future development plans (what would you do differently or how would you continue improvements) Professional attire is required.

4 Design Expo Logistics for Spring Quarter
Location: Student Center (Tonk) Time: 3PM – 8PM 3:00 – 4:15 project set up 4:20 – 4:30 kick-off ceremony 4:30 – 6:15 judging of projects 6:15 – 7:00 judges tally results (begin clean up) 7:00 – 7:15 awards 7:15 – 7:45 finish cleanup (service hour sheets will be signed) Judges will approach your group’s table. You will have approximately 4 feet of space on a table (sharing the other half of the table with another group). You can demonstrate your prototype on the floor if the table is not enough space. If you need a larger space, let your instructor know immediately. Larger spaces will be given on a case-by-case basis. You will have a backdrop that can be used to tack information (pictures, text, etc.) onto it. Bring your own tacks (Velcro also works). Use the backdrop to your advantage. Put meaningful information here. Make it neat, concise, clean, and colorful. Be creative with your space! If you do not want to use the tackable backdrop, you can bring your own backdrop (suggestion: trifold boards like those used at a science fair project presentation). Extension cords will be provided under the tables.

6 Design Expo Logistics for Fall and Winter Quarters
Location: Bogard Hall 304 and/or 305 Time: 4:30PM – 6:30PM 4:30 – 5:05 project set up 5:05 – 5:15 kick-off ceremony 5:15 – 6:15 judging of projects 6:15 – 6:25 closing remarks 6:15 – 6:45 clean up and judges tally results Any awards determined by the judges will be announced in Class 19. Judges will approach your group’s table. Table space depends on room. BOGH 305: 7-ft long x 42-in wide tables where you will have approximately 3.5 feet of space on a table (sharing the other half of the table with another group). BOGH 304: Each group will have their own 52-in x 52-in table. You can demonstrate your prototype on the floor if the table is not enough space. If you need a larger space, let your instructor know immediately. Larger spaces will be given on a case by case basis. If desired, bring a backdrop for your project (suggestion: trifold boards like those used at a science fair project presentation). Use the backdrop to your advantage. Put meaningful information here. Awards that may be handed out at the Design Expo include: 1st place Overall at Freshman Design Expo 2nd place Overall at Freshman Design Expo 3rd place Overall at the Freshman Design Expo Shoot the Moon - Tough project, may not function completely DaVinci - Most Creative/out of the box thinking Can-Do - Difficult project that actually works Rolex - Best constructed prototype Patent Pending - novel but practical idea
