2 Ground Circuit Electron Current – Main Points
Vehicle Electrical-Electronics Hands-On Troubleshooting Training Program Veejer Enterprises, Garland, Texas Ground Circuit Electron Current – Main Points Current flow in a circuit is the movement of electrons through the circuit. Electron flow occurs when a voltage source (battery or generator) pushes electrons through a circuit. Electrons flow from the negative (-) terminal, through the circuit, to the positive (+) terminal of the same voltage source. The circuit must supply a complete circuit (switch CLOSES) between the (-) and (+) terminals of the same voltage source. Electrons can only return to the positive terminal of the voltage source they left. Electrons passing through a circuit load causes the load to function. 13 Understand Current Clamps Always measure one wire at a time.
Vehicle Electrical-Electronics Hands-On Troubleshooting Training Program Veejer Enterprises, Garland, Texas Understand Current Clamps When measuring two wires at the same time the Current Clamp will algebraically add the two currents together. +5 (+) +15 = 20 and DMM indicates the sum is 20 A. -5 (+) +15 = 10 and DMM indicates the sum is 10 A. Always measure one wire at a time. Fig Illustration taken from “Vehicle Electrical Troubleshooting SHORTCUTS” Copyright © 2017 Veejer Enterprises, Garland, TX
