1 Carbon Changing Costumes Day 4 Apr 2 & 3
Please get ready: Your journal Carbon Map Homework Please obtain: Green Packet

2 Warm Up Apr 2-3 1. How does limestone end up on the ocean floor?? What is the process? 2. How does CO₂ gas get from deep in the Earth to out in the atmosphere? What is the process?

3 Warm Up Review How does limestone end up on the ocean floor?? What is the process? Ions floating in the ocean react with one another and create a precipitate which then settles on the bottom of the ocean. Ca²⁺ + 2Cl⁻ + 2HCO₃⁻ + 2Na⁺ Na⁺ + 2Cl⁻ + CaCO₃ + H₂O + CO₂ How does CO₂ gas get from deep in the Earth to out in the atmosphere? What is the process? Calcium carbonate heats up and metamophisizes into calcium oxide and carbon dioxide gas. The gas vents through volcanoes, geysers and/or vents. CaCO₃ (s) + Heat CaO + H₂O + CO₂(g)

4 Stations 6 and 8 Today Photosynthesis (Station 6)
Use the green Lab sheet for the photosynthesis station, then answer the questions in the green packet in your journal. Complete the review by viewing the Photosynthesis PPT on my Swift website while you are waiting to collect data. Respiration (Station 8) Read the station 8 card for respiration and follow the instructions, then answer the questions in the green packet. MUST WEAR GOGGLES when blowing into the BTB solution!

5 Station #7 For this station you will need the text book. Go to page 559, with your team work through all the questions on pages in your journal (except 3c) When done, draw all 3 processes on your carbon map.

6 Khan Academy Carbon Cycle
Glue the questions into your notes section. Answer the questions as you watch the video.
