A Prayer of Multiculturalism
Dear Lord, We are amazed by the way of your creation. You created us all different but in Your own image, And you said, “It is good!” with full satisfaction. You scattered us in different languages. Now we can see that you are gathering us back. People are moving into safe places to live, Forming multicultural communities together. Lord, we look up to you, searching for Your work. Show us Your ways, O Lord. Guide us in Your truth. Teach us how to live all together in harmony and in unity. We are all different, but together, we want to please You and glorify You, as Your precious and holy people. Amen

At parent/teacher interviews, ask the following questions:
What level of ESL is my child? What does this mean for High School courses and/or graduation? Can you explain my child’s report card? At your child’s school... Be informed about your child’s academics!

This is to give a visual and is approximate. It is designed to help teachers understand through a illustration that a student may be level 4 in Grades 4-6 and maybe a level 3 in Grades 7-9

After being assessed at One World… One Centre your child will be given an ESL Level. If their ESL Level is either 1, 2 or a low 3 their High School Programming may look like this… Expository English 15 English 10-2 English 10-1 English 20-2 Expository English 25

Junior High to High School Transitions

Each Junior High School will host a High School Informational Session (during school hours).
Schools within the boundary will provide information on their courses and programs. A school handbook and registration form will be given to every student who attends the session. Bring this registration form, and your child’s report card to the registration evening. How to Register

High School Open Houses (see handout)

Open House happens before registration evenings.
There is an Open House and a Registration evening--two separate events. Bring your child’s registration and report card to the Registration evening.
