The Student Progression Plan ensures that the required program of study, grade placement, promotion, retention, reporting and special programs are equitable and comprehensive for all students. Encompasses: State Requirements and District Policies

The Student Progression Plan is broken into six sections: General Information Elementary Services (Grades K-5) Middle School Services (Grades 6-8) High School Services (Grades 9-12) Exceptional Student Education (ESE) Graduation Charts and Resources

6 REVISIONS & UPDATES Policy Change
Students that show proficiency by obtaining a level 4 or higher on the Florida Statewide Standardized Assessment in ELA, Mathematics, science or social studies may be granted course completion in middle school course credit for that specific subject area if approved by the district committee.

7 REVISIONS & UPDATES Policy Change
Florida Senate Bill 1076 requires that an End of Course (EOC) assessment results represent 30% of the student’s final course grade for the following courses: Biology, Geometry, Algebra 1, United States History and Civics. The following grades will be assigned based on the results of the students EOC and will be used to calculate the students final course grade. EOC Score Grade Assigned for 30% calculation Level 5 or Level 4 A Level 3 B Level C Level 1 D

8 REVISIONS & UPDATES Legislative Change
Beginning with the school year, students will no longer be able to utilize the CAP program to earn high school credit in Algebra 2. The Algebra 2 course will no longer require an End of Course Exam (EOC) worth 30% of the overall final course grade.

9 REVISIONS & UPDATES Legislative Change
Students graduating during the school year and thereafter will be eligible to participate in the Volusia Florida Seal of Biliteracy Program. The Florida Seal of Biliteracy program recognizes high school students who have attained a high level of proficiency in one or more languages in addition to English. Eligible students will receive a gold or silver seal on their diplomas.

10 REVISIONS & UPDATES Clarifying Language
Students that are opting for an 18-credit diploma and who are in their 4th year, but have yet to earn the 17 credits needed for Senior Status, may be moved to senior status at the end of the first semester of their 4th year, if they are on track to graduate in May

11 REVISIONS & UPDATES Legislative Change
The previously required career planning component for middle school students which resulted in the completion of a personalized four-year academic and career plan and was infused into the 8th grade history class has been removed from the Student Progression Plan.
