Stalin dies in 1953, we will see how the US reacts to subsequent Russian policy. We will look at the policy of ‘peaceful co-existence’. But also at the Hungarian Uprising, 1856 and the Berlin Crisis,

5 Make presentations…… Context:
1. What impact did the death of Stalin have on international relations? (Intro) 2. How and why did the soviets develop ‘peaceful coexistence’? Explain how position became so entrenched (why there was no third way). Events: 3. The death of Stalin on Russian politics (summary)/Beria’s foreign policy. 4. Melankov’s ‘New Course’/the rise of Khruschev. 5. What was the immediate impact of Khrushchev’s policy of co-existence? Then, make one big PowerPoint to go on the website.
