Role of anillin actin-binding protein (ANLN) in liver tumor development. Zhang et al demonstrate that ANLN is overexpressed in human liver cancers. Knockdown of ANLN in mouse liver cells blocks cytokinesis, leading to hepatocyte polyploidization. Blocking ANLN expression inhibits the development of liver tumors in mice without inducing damage in nontransformed parenchymal cells.
