2 Don’t worry w/b 25th September 2017
An opportunity remind ourselves that simply worrying serves no purpose .

3 Don’t Worry Word There was once an old farmer who had an old horse for ploughing his fields. One day, the horse escaped into the hills and when all the farmer’s neighbors sympathised with the old man over his bad luck, the farmer replied, ‘Bad luck? Good luck? Who knows?’

4 Don’t Worry Word A week later the horse returned with a herd of wild horses from the hills and this time the neighbours congratulated the farmer on his good luck. His reply was, ‘Good luck? Bad luck? Who knows?’

5 Don’t Worry Word Then, when the farmer’s son was attempting to tame one of the wild horses, he fell off its back and broke his leg. Everyone thought this was very bad luck. Not the farmer, whose only reaction was, ‘Bad luck? Good luck? Who knows?’

6 Don’t Worry Word Some weeks later, the army marched into the village and conscripted every able-bodied youth they found there. When they saw the farmer’s son with his broken leg they let him off. Now was that good luck? Bad luck? Who knows?

7 The title of the book was inspired by one of Jesus’ teachings.
Don’t Worry Response That ancient story was taken from a book called ‘ The Song of the Bird’ by Anthony De Mello. The title of the book was inspired by one of Jesus’ teachings. “Do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?” Matthew 6:25-34 Read Quote Aloud "...Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.“ Nelson Mandela quoting from the book 'A Return To Love' (1992) by Marianne Williamson in his Inaugural Address.
