3 End of Course Exams New legislation passed in June 2017 requires students in eligible Algebra 1, Geometry, and English 3-4 (i.e. 10th grade English) equivalent courses to take an end-of-course (EOC) final exam. Teachers will administer the EOC final at the end of semester 2 or the final term of a course. Each EOC final may be cumulative (include items assessing standards taught during the first term) and is comprised of items developed by the state of Nevada’s testing vendor and reviewed by Nevada educators from across the state. The Nevada State Board of Education (SBE) has set the final grade weight for the EOC courses. End of Course (EOC) finals will count for a set percentage of the overall grade for aligned courses that will start at 10% for the first two years and incrementally increase as follows:  For * the grade weight of the EOC final shall be 10% of the semester/term grade;  For the grade weight of the EOC final shall be 10% of the semester/term grade;  For the grade weight of the EOC final shall be 15% of the semester/term grade;  For and each year after, the grade weight of the EOC final shall be 20% of the semester grade. *Note: SBE guidance begins with the school year. The grade weight of the EOC finals may vary by district for the school year only. WCSD set the percentage at 10% for the school year, for all schools.
