A thorough and correctly-completed AAR form is important to Polaris as it plays a key role in verifying coated part conformance. This is important to you, our supply-base, as it confirms the adherence to Polaris standards and specifications. The completed form serves as documentation that the your process produces parts adhering to Polaris engineering standards and test specifications. Proper utilization of the AAR Form results in: Reduced component color variation leading into production. Reduction of pre-mature corrosion issues in the field (and associated warranty claims). PPAP is requested for a cosmetic part Supplier reviews Polaris engineering specs referenced on the print Supplier completes testing outlined in the engineering specs Polaris SQE and quality lab review AAR to verify testing completion Supplier AAR Training As a supplier, training will help you understand Polaris’ expectations for AAR submissions. For new suppliers, this training will occur during supplier onboarding. For current suppliers, a review of the AAR process prior to beginning a cosmetic project needs be initiated with your purchasing representative to communicate expectations. A clear understanding of AAR process expectations streamlines component approval. Knowing the procedure will allow you to leave adequate time for necessary testing, AAR submission, and resubmission if necessary. A complete understanding of the process is required before taking on a project in order to recognize the time and resources needed for a successful submission. 8 PPAP Request from Polaris
Supplier trained on requirements / content of SQAM PPAP is requested for a cosmetic part Supplier reviews Polaris engineering specs referenced on the print Supplier completes testing outlined in the engineering specs Polaris SQE and quality lab review AAR to verify testing completion After a drawing is released, the appropriate PPAP documents will be requested by the Polaris quality lab that will review the part and documentation. Each surface coating requires the individual submission of PPAP documentation (including the AAR form). For example, a part ordered in both black paint and chrome variations will require two separate AAR forms. Each surface coating requires an AAR! Polaris CONFIDENTIAL

9 Referencing the Design Record
PPAP is requested for a cosmetic part Supplier trained on requirements / content of SQAM Supplier reviews Polaris engineering specs referenced on the print Supplier completes testing outlined in the engineering specs Polaris SQE and quality lab review AAR to verify testing completion The print for a cosmetic/coated part will outline the necessary engineering specs and standards to be followed. Furthermore, these standards will outline the required testing needed to approve the component. If you do not have access to the listed Polaris standards, request them from your purchasing representative. If you already have copies of the standards to be used, verify that you are using the same revision as Polaris at the beginning of new projects to eliminate any discrepancies. Methods and standards outlined in the design record must be adhered to! Polaris CONFIDENTIAL

10 Testing Conformance and Reporting Results
PPAP is requested for a cosmetic part Supplier trained on requirements / content of SQAM Supplier reviews Polaris engineering specs referenced on the print Supplier completes testing outlined in the engineering specs Polaris SQE and quality lab review AAR to verify testing completion The supplier is responsible for completing all testing required by the standards outlined in the design record. Polaris may perform testing to verify results submitted by the supplier but testing to initially validate coating performance will not be completed by Polaris. The part submitted for PPAP approval must be different than the parts used for testing, as some tests are destructive. All light green areas on the form must be completed in order to have a complete submission. By using the drop-down tabs in the form, certain areas will be blocked out indicating that they do not need to be completed. Be sure to include photographs and specific test results in the “Supplier Testing and Photos” tab when appropriate (e.g., corrosion testing, adhesion testing, cure testing, etc.). All testing must be driven from the Polaris spec/standard! Polaris CONFIDENTIAL

11 Final Review of Documentation
PPAP is requested for a cosmetic part Supplier trained on requirements / content of SQAM Supplier reviews Polaris engineering specs referenced on the print Supplier completes testing outlined in the engineering specs Polaris SQE and quality lab review AAR to verify testing completion Final review of the AAR is done by the SQE and Polaris quality lab upon PPAP submission The review will consist of cross-referencing the part, the appropriate standards, and the completed AAR form Was the proper surface coating/ engineering standard selected for the part? Are all required areas completed on the form? Do the communicated performance results meet the requirements outlined in the engineering standards? Are all defects on the part within the allowable tolerance according to the standard? Do the results of Polaris’ inspection of the part match those submitted by the supplier? If a submission is rejected for any reason, you will be contacted by the Polaris Quality Lab with details and photos of the non-conformance found in the “Polaris Comments/Discussion” section and “Polaris Non-Conformance” tab of the form. All non- conformances must be corrected before resubmission. All AAR content will be checked back to the Polaris standard! Polaris CONFIDENTIAL

The AAR form can be accessed from page 26 of the Polaris Supplier Quality Assurance Manual (SQAM). The additional process for the AAR is found in the “Process” tab of the AAR form. Utilize the SQAM for access to the AAR form and process Polaris CONFIDENTIAL

Separate PPAP requests are issued for each cosmetic part by the Polaris quality lab. PPAP documentation is requested for PN – the machined, non-coated, raw part to verify dimensional and process characteristics. PPAP documents are requested for PN with separate documents requested for PN , both requiring AAR forms. PPAP documentation is requested for each coated part number! Polaris CONFIDENTIAL

The supplier is responsible for populating the drop-down boxes with the part characteristics. The form will auto-populate with required fields based on drop-down inputs. All remaining green boxes based on part characteristics MUST be populated. These are the same sections that will be verified by the Polaris quality lab. The “Coating Type/Eng. Standard Used” drop-down menu shows the standard to be cross-referenced when identifying testing requirements. The form and eng. standard both define the validation requirements! If all testing and defect requirements have been met, part approval will be relayed to you by the Polaris quality lab. There are 2 main reasons why a cosmetic part will not be approved: Not all required testing was completed per the engineering standard. Testing and inspection was completed but non-conformance was identified. Coating performance did not meet the requirements outlined in the standard. Cosmetic defects exceed the allowable tolerance outlined in the standard. If a part is rejected for any reason, you will be notified by the Polaris quality lab with the details of the non-conformance. Once the issue is corrected, you must resubmit with complete/correct testing or work through the proper channels in submitting a deviation. Thorough review of the AAR submission is critical! 18 FAQ The supplier is responsible for all necessary testing.
Q- What should I do if the submitted PPAP is rejected? A-If a PPAP is rejected for any reason, the Polaris quality lab will immediately relay details of non-conformance. It is up to the supplier to reevaluate their process to produce conforming parts and resubmit. Q-Will Polaris complete the necessary testing for supplied components? A- No. Polaris may want to validate key performance requirements on certain parts, but it is the responsibility of the supplier to complete all required testing. Q- I don’t think the required testing is appropriate for this part, is it actually necessary? A- Yes, all testing required by the AAR form and standard must be completed. Any questions or clarification should be communicated to your purchasing representative. The supplier is responsible for all necessary testing. Polaris CONFIDENTIAL
