1 Product Packaging Guideline Branding Reshipper Carton

2 Reshipper Packages Definition
Reshipper – When the product is shipped into our distribution center in a carton that will be shipped to the customer. Refers to a vendors package capable of being reshipped, as is, to our customer via the rigors of USPS, UPS, FEDEX, Etc… Introduction The container, interior packaging and the packaging of the product as the customer will receive it are the vendor’s responsibility. While you may be well versed in ISTA compliance for unitized loads of the same product, please know we will be shipping an individual carton to the customer. Your packaging will need to protect the product from the rigors of transit while simultaneously enhancing the Frontgate and GrandinRoad brands. Please examine your current packaging and perform an in-house transit test (Ref pages ). If product damage occurs, contact our QA Specialist as they can assist in a packaging revision. Once an in-house test results as a “pass”, send revised pack to MTL/BV with a test request form (TRF) Ref page 14 . Note: The Cinmar QA team will request digital pictures of your in-house drop test. 3 Reshipper Packages Typical Package Handling Situation
Your packaging must be able to withstand the standard ISTA (International Safe Transit Association) drop test and transit to the customer. ***Independent testing of the product packaging for compliance with ISTA 3A is strongly encouraged*** Product handing situation As a cataloger , our packaging standards exceed the standards required for shipping pallet loads to the retail channels. Each box travels a harsh route Handled up to 20 times by hand at the various carrier hubs Travels up to 30-miles on high-speed sorting equipment Travels up to 2500 miles loosely loaded in a carrier trailer For instance a ground shipment from Cincinnati, OH to San Jose, CA, a box will travel the following path: Cinmar’s Distribution Center Received and stored. Packed & labeled with customer address, sorted on automated sorter, loaded onto UPS trailer Local Carrier Hub Unloaded from trailer, sorted by destination, loaded on outbound trailer bound for intermediate hub Intermediate Carrier Hub Unloaded, sorted, loaded onto trailer on flat car for west coast hub CA depot Unloaded from flat car, sorted on conveyor, transported on trailer to local depot Local delivery sort Unloaded from trailer, sorted, loaded onto local delivery truck bound for customer’s home or office Cinmar - Ver

4 Reshipper Packages Box type
The Corrugated: Outer (Shipping) Carton *A brown carton is required. (Avoid tan, gold, or yellow tone recycled corrugate). *A minimum carton requirement of 200-lb. bursting strength, or a 32-lb ECT (Edge Crush Test) double wall, double flute, certified test. *Double Wall: Two corrugated mediums with a linerboard facing adhered between them and to both sides. No part of the corrugated should be of a recycled material. Carton Tape: * Two inch wide (minimum), brown, tri- directional, gummed, water activated tape. * Tape should fold over corner and hang down two inches (minimum). Cinmar - Ver

5 Reshipper Packages Carton Construction
Reshipper – Outer (Shipping) Carton The buyer and Vendor must address reshipper-packaging options in negotiations. A Vendor must supply a reshippable box whenever feasible. Follow the chart below to determine the appropriate carton strength to minimize carton/product damage Double Walled Box Max Weight in Box 200# 1 lb – 60 lb 275# 61 lb – 99 lb 350# Over 100 lb Why not a cushion color spec? If the package fails the drop test, upgrading the carton strength is an economical means of adding impact protection with minimal increase in the outer box cube. Cinmar - Ver

Cinmar Brand Enhancement Approved Logos: Frontgate and GrandinRoad The Frontgate or GrandinRoad logo: Print Color: Black Artwork : Supplied by Cinmar or download (Cinmar Vendor Partnership) Variety of digital formats are available. Logo placement Our packaging logo must be printed in black and centered on front and back panels of the carton. Logo size It will be necessary to proportionally increase/decrease the size of the logo to accommodate the package size. Logo length should be 1/2 the width of the box, not to exceed 20". Only the size of the logo should be altered, the type font and spacing is to remain as shown. Do not manipulate the logo as it could lead to distortion. New image Place on front and back panels, long sides Cinmar - Ver

10 Reshipper Packages Cushioning
Protecting the product One of Cinmar’s recommended cushioning is a pre-formed polystyrene mold. We request a 2” thick cushion as a benchmark for sufficient cushion within a package. The cushion should protect all 6 sides of the product from the box side, in an effort to “float” the item. Note: Alternative cushioning to protect the product are acceptable but must be approved by Cinmar QA and be able to pass an ISTA. Internal components Internal components within the carton should be separated from each other to avoid blemish marks. Do not use Protection filler such as: Paper towels, rags, printed newspaper, small foam pieces (peanuts), shredded boxes etc... is prohibited and will lead to expenses offsets. We typically do not accept bubble-wrap as a direct-to-consumer cushion solution. We request a designed appearance. Note: In the event that your pack requires correction in our fulfillment center, your organization will incur charges. Cinmar - Ver

11 Reshipper Packages Inner packaging
Poly Bags A poly bag/film must be used to protect the products finish. Slip/Cover the item into a new, clear, sized-appropriate poly-bag. Poly bags must be a minimum of 1.0 mil thick and cover the item 100%. 13 Reshipper Packages Package Development Procedure
Determine Carton size The carton should be sized appropriately so the cushioning protecting the item is a snug fit. Protect the finish of the product, components, and parts Use clear, size appropriate poly bags Cushion the item Please use 2 inch cushion as a benchmark for sufficient cushion within a reshipper package. Determine use of banding Avoid banding on packages less than 130” length and girth. Perform transit test Test per guidelines (page 14). Send to Bureau Veritas - MTL for transit protocol. Cinmar - Ver

14 Reshipper Packages Packaging Test Specifications
Overview: All items must be transit tested before they leave the origin. This is to insure our customers don’t receive damaged merchandise. Top of production product/packaging must have a Bureau Veritas - MTL lab “pass” result. When submitting to BV/MTL you must use a Cinmar Test Request Form. Please request the “How to Submit to MTL” literature from your QA Specialist or use this link to take you directly to the MTL web site ). Important: In an effort to minimize damage and enhance the customers experience, failure to provide packaging that adequately protects the item in transit to our customers, will result in chargeback's. Note: Please your Cinmar QA Specialist or if you need assistance on improving the packaging of your item. (Please submit with digital pictures) Cinmar - Ver
