10 Employee Annual Leave Accrual

14 Annual Leave Limitations
Requests for leave should be submitted to the supervising administrator three (3) to five (5) days prior to the absence date. Any employee using Annual Leave exceeding 5 consecutive days will require a completed Leave of Absence Form. Verification of absences will be required once the employee has used six (6) Annual Leave days in a school year or a specific pattern of misuse of Annual Leave days appears. Except in highly unique and rare situations, illness, or emergencies, Annual Leave may not be granted the first or last week of the academic year, the day before or after a holiday or school vacation, or any day(s) added to make up for snow days or other school closures. 15 Personal Reason Limitations
Employees may take Annual Leave for a "personal reason” (up to 3 days per year – included in leave allotment). Annual Leave for a personal reason must be pre-approved. No verification or documentation is required when you make a request for Annual Leave for personal reasons. 16 LEAVE OF ABSENCE WITHOUT PAY
Applies in cases where other types of leave are not applicable or have been exhausted Not eligible to work for District in any capacity during term of approved Leave of Absence without pay New Staff Institute Content, Pedagogy, Relationships #NSICPR2017

17 Sick Leave Bank Employees who are members of the Sick Leave Bank may apply for additional leave time for severe or catastrophic illness or medical problems of the employee after their Medical and Annual Leave has been exhausted. A formal sick bank request must be submitted to include supporting documentation. If your request is approved, you can be granted up to 30 work days per school year. Limitations Must have been a member of the Sick Leave Bank for a minimum of 90 calendar days before request. Need three (3) or more consecutive days of leave. 18 Sick Leave Bank (cont.) How do you become a member?
Employee donates one day of Annual Leave to join for initial membership and must rejoin by donating one day only if the Sick Bank falls below 100 days Employee must join within 180 days of hire or during “District Benefits Open Enrollment” period in April/May Please complete the “Joining the Sick Leave Bank” form. 19 Compassionate Leave Compassionate Leave allows co-workers the opportunity to support another in a time of need. To qualify for Compassionate Leave an employee must have: Been employed for a minimum of 90 calendar days Exhausted his/her Medical and/or Annual Leave Need one (1) or more consecutive days leave May or may not be a member of the Sick Leave Bank New Staff Institute Content, Pedagogy, Relationships #NSICPR2017

20 Pay (Understanding Prorated pay)
Payday is the 25th of every month, unless the 25th is on a holiday or weekend in which payday is moved to the last regular working day before the break. All employees working more than 20 hours per week have prorated pay. Hours are averaged over a 12 month period Any overtime or extra hours are paid the following month 13 month salary. 22 Employee Assistance Program(EAP)
ANY Harrison District employee or immediate family member qualifies for this service, and a referral from your supervisor or the Human Capital Department is NOT necessary. This benefit not only covers you, but also covers: spouse/significant other and children (up to age 24 and still a dependent). A counselor is available 24/7 to assist with emergency problems. Employees and dependents receive three (3) sessions, per person, per problem, per fiscal year. EAP services are completely confidential and FREE OF CHARGE (Unless you miss a scheduled appointment, then you will be charged $25.) New Staff Institute Content, Pedagogy, Relationships #NSICPR2017
