5. What are the EC RP Modules (RPMs)?
For faculty and professional development providers
Supports the implementation of the Division of Early Childhood Recommended Practices
Free interactive, multimedia modules
Accompanying instructor guide
Early Childhood Recommended Practice Modules are developed for early care and education, early intervention, and early childhood special education faculty and professional development providers to use within their coursework and trainings. These modules are designed to support the implementation of the Division of Early Childhood Recommended Practices. Specifically, there are modules to support the use of all 8 of the DEC Recommended Practice topic areas. The modules support your learners in:
Understanding and practicing using the DEC Recommended Practices in a risk-free environment, and
Gaining confidence and competence in using the DEC Recommended Practices within their real-world practice.
These are free interactive, multimedia modules that can be easily accessed, downloaded, and embedded in your coursework and professional development sessions. There is also an accompanying instructor guide that supports you easily using the modules within your current coursework and professional development sessions.

7. The goals of RPM are
To support faculty and PD providers with incorporating the DEC RPs into their coursework.
To support learners with:
Building knowledge and skills of the DEC Recommended Practices,
Having opportunities to practice using the DEC Recommended Practices in a risk-free environment, and
Gaining confidence and competence in using the DEC Recommended Practices within their real-world practice.

Knowledge and skills-The modules should support the learnings in understanding the DEC RPs
Practice-The modules should improve the learners practice
Support-The modules should include supports to help faculty embed the modules into their coursework

Develop an inventory to identify strengths and gaps in web-based professional development and products and tools to support the use of the DEC Recommended Practices
Ensure that the RPMs are not duplicative
Identify potential resources that we might repurpose or add on as recommended supplemental resources

10. Module Format-PDSA Plan Do Act Study
Plan: Learners will consider why there is a need to focus on the RP, and will acquire and apply knowledge on the RP via self-guided interactive activities. Experts and others in the field share common challenges associated with implementing the RP, and strategies for implementing it effectively.
Do: Learners will have the opportunity to tie it all together in a scenario-based interactive activity. In addition, the learner will have opportunities to try out the practice in their own classroom, practicum placement, or through role-playing activities.
Sit down next to Sarah, help her choose a puzzle, and you then work with her to name the shapes and colors.
Ask Sarah if she would like to come with you to the dramatic play center, when she nods, you take her hand and guide her there.
Remind Sarah that she can choose any center and that dramatic play still has space for one more child, you watch to make sure she chooses a center.
