Embedding allusions into your writing
In Act 2 scene 1 we see Juliet on the balcony with Romeo below. This suggests that she is metaphorically put on a pedestal and elevated over and above anyone else. Perhaps, Shakespeare chooses to stage the production with the balcony as an allusion to the goddess Venus and to show Romeo’s enduring and instantaneous love for her. The quote “her cheeks put the stars to shame” implying her physical radiance at night is so great Romeo is almost star struck by her. Here, dramatic irony is used, as Juliet is unaware at the start of his presence and this allows them to reveal their true feelings to each other without it being awkward between them. They both are aware of the others feelings in advance of their professions of love.
