Partners INA-Holding Schaeffler KG Management Maria-Elisabeth Schaeffler Dr. Jürgen M. Geißinger President and CEO Lic. oec. HSG Georg F.W. Schaeffler JD/LLM Dr. Mary Jo Gresens Chief Financial Officer The Schaeffler Group is one of the largest privately-owned German companies. The Schaeffler Group ranks 30th among the large German companies. The company is characterized by the personal commitment of Mrs. Schaeffler and her son Not being listed on the stock exchange has numerous advantages: Decisions can be made quickly Long-term actions that are not based on short-term quarterly numbers and share prices Social responsibility, not shareholder value The Schaeffler Group

8 Close to the Customer around the Globe: Plants, employees & sales
Employees Sales plants worldwide: worldwide: approx. 7,2 bn over 100 sales locations The Schaeffler Group is a global company. 78 plants and over 100 distribution centers in 30 countries They each have a different focus INA: Europe and North America FAG: Europe and Asia LuK: Europe and North America Future growth regions will be in Asia, Eastern Europe and North and South America In Western Europe, stagnation is to be expected. Currently, new plants are under construction in Romania and China, and a Tech Center is being built in Korea 2004 was a very difficult year. For the most part, the economy was not favorable, and customer demands for lower prices in the rolling bearing and automotive industries remains at a high level. In addition, the rolling bearing market is characterized by structural changes. See INA-FAG, Timken-Torrington mergers and others. And yet, we were able to achieve the previous year‘s sales. This means that our development has been better than general market trends. Plants Sales LuK 17 20 INA 36 36 FAG 22 The Schaeffler Group

24 Ensuring the Future through high investments in Research & Development
Worldwide 3,500 employees at 30 locations more than 550 patents annually 1,000 new products annually Think global, act local – this motto accurately represents current trends in the supplier industry. On the global markets, we are expected to be qualified local development partners, and that’s why we have tech centers in Germany, the United States and Korea. We are also planning additional capacities in Japan and China. In research and development, there is a clear trend towards component suppliers and other technical solutions. This leads to a global strategy of disseminating standardized manufacturing methods worldwide and to the setup of technology centers having consolidated expertise in order to achieve the highest level of effectiveness and customer service possible. High investments made for: state-of-the-art simulation methods, labs for materials technology and testing facilities Promotion from science and research: FAG Innovation Award, LuK colloquium The Schaeffler Group

25 Quality Has the Highest Priority
Goal: Zero defects Quality is a requirement at our company and the basis for our work. The result is the high quality of our products and services - and the trust that our customers, employees and suppliers place in us. Numerous awards from customers and quality management certificates to top international standards (ISO/TS 16949:2002) confirm our quality achievements. Quality “Zero-defect quality” is a company goal that is embraced accordingly This goal is all the more important since OEMs increasingly demand recourse from their suppliers Consistent quality management in all phases, from development to manufacturing, guarantees the highest level of product reliability possible. Comprehensive information on the Intranet and Internet High quality standards are checked and closely monitored during regular audits in all company divisions. Important customer awards confirm our quality achievements: To provide just one example, in 2001, INA was supplier of the year at GM, the largest automobile manufacturer in the world! Other examples: - Bosch Supplier Award 2001/2002 (08/2003) for INA Germany - Honda Supplier Award (03/2003) for LuK - Toyota Quality Award (05/2003) for INA - GM “Supplier of the Year“ (06/2003) for INA USA - Quality Assurance Authorization award from Mazda (7/2003) for INA Japan - Factory of the Year 2001 for FAG Aircraft Quality is embraced worldwide in all processes Zero defects is more important than ever, and consistent quality awareness and defect prevention ensure “zero-defect quality” The Schaeffler Group

26 Environmental Protection – A Defined Company Goal
Environmental protection and sustained ecological economizing go without saying at the Schaeffler Group and are defined company goals.
