1 Part-Time TAP Before I go over Part Time TAP, I just wanted to let you know that: You can still pose your questions on our Q & A website that we have made available to you since this past summer. and/or Give us a call with any questions/concerns you may have.

3 Eligible Institutions:
The State University of New York (SUNY), The City University of New York (CUNY), Not-for-profit independent degree granting colleges. Eligible institutions are: The State University of New York (SUNY), The City University of New York (CUNY), Not-for-profit independent degree granting colleges. HESC has several years of experience in processing the Part-Time TAP Program through a Pilot Program with did with CUNY schools. Only mention if they ask? Students attending proprietary colleges are NOT eligible to participate in the new Part-Time TAP program

4 2007-08 School Year: Eligibility is limited to undergraduate students:
who are first-time freshman in the academic year or thereafter, who complete 12 credits or more in each of two consecutive semesters, have a cumulative GPA of at least 2.00 enrolled in at least 6 credits but less than 12 credits per semester. To be eligible for Part-Time TAP for the academic year a student must: meet all the eligibility for full-time TAP in addition to the eligibility requirements for Part-time TAP. The student must have been a first-time freshman in the academic year or thereafter, Must have earned 12 credits or more in each of two consecutive semesters for the for a total of 24 or more credits. The 24 credits must come from a SUNY, CUNY or not-for profit independent degree granting institution. (cannot be proprietary schools) Must have a cumulative grade-point-average of at least a “C” Must be enrolled between 6-11 credits

Application Process: Students need to complete and submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and TAP application. go to: follow the instructions provided. Important to let your student’s know that: There is no separate application process for Part time TAP, Students will continue to apply for TAP, full-time or part-time, by filing the FAFSA and Tap On The Web At Reporting: TAP eligible students will appear on a TAP roster calculated for a full-time TAP award since we don’t know what their true status will be. Schools will then report the actual number of credits on the TAP roster, or on the certification web pages, or on your school based software, like Banner or People soft.

6 Certification on HescWeb
Student’s award on Payment Roster is calculated for a FT award Students will be certified for PT TAP in same manner as FT TAP Exception – School will indicate the number of credits a student is taking. Once certification is submitted, HESC will calculate the award based on the reported credits. The Remittance Advice and Status List will reflect the new award amount

8 Electronic Certification
Schools enter the number of credits in the “Enrollment Status” field Valid entries : 06, 07, 08, 09, 10, 11 Two characters are required

9 Schools will enter credits in the
status field between 06-11

10 Again, partial TAP payments will be made for students taking between 6-11 credits.
If you look at this Payment Award Determination chart you can see the breakdown of credits to percentage and the number of points to accrue. The awarded amount and the points accrued are prorated by the number of credits for which the student is enrolled. Part-Time does not replace Aid for Part-time study. Aid for Part-Time Study is a different program that has different eligibility requirements- -and is a campus based program where the school selects the recipients. APTS remains unchanged for the academic year and is fully funded at 14.6 million
