3 1. Judaism Original of the Abrahamic Religions.
Started over 3,500 years ago in present day Israel/Middle East. Monotheistic (belief in one god) religion with covenant with god. Traditional laws are kept in the Torah. Star of David

4 2. Christianity Second of the Abrahamic religions.
Also monotheistic, but includes the prophet Jesus as the “savior” of all Christians. The religion starts with the death of Jesus around 2,000 years ago, also near present day Israel. Traditional laws are kept in the Bible.

5 3. Islam Third of the Abrahamic religions.
Also monotheistic, and includes the prophet Muhammad as “the messenger of god” Religion originated in present day Saudi Arabia around 1,400 years ago. Traditional laws are kept in the Qur'an and each Muslim is bound by the 5 pillars.

6 4. Hinduism According to some, the oldest surviving religion in the world, dating back to 3,000 BC. Today, Hiduism is the dominant religion of India and Nepal. Hinduism is among the world’s most diverse, there are no set of common laws or books, and there are many gods celebrated by Hindus (polytheism). Cycle of life is governed by Karma. Caste System

7 5. Buddhism Non-theistic religion/philosophy based on the teachings of Siddhārtha Gautama, or the Buddha who lived around 2,500 years ago. Buddhist teachings revolve around the Four Noble Truths and the Eightfold Path. Celebrated today in parts of Eastern Asia.
