2 Early Life Benjamin Franklin was number 10 of 17 siblings
He always loved reading and when he was 12 he became an apprentice under his brother who had a printing company Ben published some of his writings under the disguise of an older woman

3 Young adult life Ben was always at odds with his brother so he finally snuck away to New York There he tried to find a job with a publisher but had no luck so he continued on to Philadelphia There, he was much more successful and was able to eventually start his own printing company

4 His personal life Ben was a bit of a womanizer and decided he needed to get married to help him settle down He married a woman named Deborah Read who was the only woman who would have him since he had an illegitimate son from an unnamed woman

5 His Eventual Success Ben was very successful in his printing business, so much so that he was eventually able to retire at the age of 42 He went from artisan to gentleman and was able to live comfortably without working He studied all kinds of literature and science

6 Ben in France

7 Inventions Ben invented a stove and bifocal glasses
He established one of the first fire departments, a hospital, library, and a college He also did a lot of research on electricity He helped draft the Declaration of Independence and was the diplomat to France until his death 20,000 people attended his funeral
