Applied Math for Culinary Management
- an individual or team event, recognizes participants who use Family and Consumer Sciences skills to demonstrate the application of mathematical concepts in the culinary arts industry. Prior to competition, participants must prepare a file folder, oral presentation, and visuals. On site, participants take an applied math test and respond to a case study. 9/18/2018

Applied Math for Culinary Management
Limited to Senior and Occupational level students. All participants will take the Applied Math for Culinary Management Test during the Orientation/Test Session prior to competition. Participants will have 30 minutes to complete the 25 question test. Tests will be evaluated and the results will be factored into the team’s final score. 9/18/2018

Participant(s) will submit one letter-size file folder containing three identical sets, with each set stapled separately, of the items listed on the specifications page for Applied Math for Culinary Management. The file folder must be labeled in the top left corner with name of event, event category, participant’s name, state, and FCCLA national region (Southern Region). 9/18/2018

Items to Remember For all file folders
Within the File Folder, only put the number of sets requested (usually this is three). If you put more sets in, you will not get full point value. Planning Process (one sheet only) should be included. Make sure to use the Planning Process Template and stay within the dimensions of the one page. (this can be found on the National website look under Chapter Advisers, and then Adviser Resources) 9/18/2018

Each set of materials should be stapled separately. File Folder may be any color. There may be nothing on the file folder except the information on the label. 9/18/2018

Complete the online project summary form located on the STAR Events Resources page of the FCCLA national website and include proof of submission in the file folder. This will be documented on the point summary rubric for Illustrated Talk 9/18/2018

Illustrated Talk oral presentation - The oral presentation may be up to 10 minutes in length and is delivered to evaluators. The presentation should deal with issues related to Family and Consumer Sciences and how these issues can be addressed by FCCLA members. It is not a factual lecture or “how-to" presentation 9/18/2018

Illustrated Talk visuals - Visuals/props may include posters, charts, slides, transparencies, presentation software, puppets, etc. Audio and audiovisual recordings are limited to 1 minute playing time during the presentation. There are no restrictions on sizes of posters, charts, etc. 9/18/2018

Illustrated Talk Evaluators will have five minutes to ask questions after the presentation. Total time required for event is approximately 25 minutes. Tables will be provided, but no electrical outlets, so bring your electronics fully charged. 9/18/2018

Interior Design Event is open ONLY to Senior and Occupational Competitors Is an individual or team event, recognizes participants who apply interior design skills learned in Family and Consumer Sciences courses to design interiors to meet the living space needs of clients. 9/18/2018

Interior Design In advance, participants will create a floor plan, an elevation and a furniture/ interior plan addressing the specifics of the design scenario. Participants must prepare a file folder, an oral presentation, and visuals. At stated competition time, participant will have five minutes to set up their event for the evaluators. 9/18/2018

Interior Design oral presentation - The oral presentation may be up to 15 minutes in length and is delivered to evaluators. The oral presentation is a time for the participant to become an interior designer and present their project to their “clients” (the evaluators). Remember: this is a dialogue, not a one way illustrated talk. Be prepared to talk with the evaluators, not to them. 9/18/2018

Interior Design After the presentation – there will be a five minute follow-up interview as evaluators and participants. Total time for this event is approximately 35 minutes. 9/18/2018

Event is open to Junior, Senior and Occupational categories This is an individual or team event, recognizes participants who use Family and Consumer Sciences and/or related occupation skills and apply communication techniques to develop a project designed to strengthen communication in a chosen category: community, employment relationships, family, peer groups, or school groups. 9/18/2018

Interpersonal Communications
Participants must prepare a file folder, an oral presentation, and a response to a related case study. Each entry will submit a file folder with required documents to the event room consultant at the designated participation time. Room consultants and evaluators will have 5 minutes to preview the file folder before the presentation begins. 9/18/2018

Participant(s) will have 5 minutes to set up for the event. Other persons may not assist. The oral presentation may be up to 5 minutes in length. Following the presentation, evaluators will have 5 minutes to interview participant(s). Participant(s) will then be given a written case study related to their project. They will have 10 minutes to prepare a response to the case study. 9/18/2018

Participant(s) will have up to 5 minutes to present the case study response to evaluators. The case study is a study of an event emphasizing issues related to communications. The participants will be asked to decide how they will respond to the event, then present their response to the evaluators. 9/18/2018

This is an individual or team event, which recognizes participants who explain how the Planning Process was used to plan and implement a national program project.
