Cyber Security NJIT is building a critical mass and increasing its visibility as a top university for future leaders in the field of cybersecurity. The National Security Agency (NSA) and Department of Homeland Security (DHS) have designated NJIT as a National Center of Academic Excellence (CAE) in Cyber Defense Education through the 2020 academic year. NSA and DHS jointly sponsor CAE with the goal to reduce vulnerability in the national information infrastructure by promoting higher education and research, and producing a growing pipeline of professionals with information assurance expertise in various disciplines.

Undergraduate Admission Criteria
Duly accomplished application form $75 nonrefundable application fee (waived for Spring 2017 applicants!) GPA of 3.3/4.0 (First Class Standing for British System) IELTS 6.0; TOEFL 550 on the paper-based exam, 213 on the computer-based exam, or 79 on the internet-based exam SAT Test Scores required for all freshman (if received then TOEFL/IELTS is potentially waived). Not required transfer students Recommendation letter (preferred) Personal Statement Financial Statement showing equivalent to $50,034 Architecture, Digital Design, Industrial Design. Interior Design and Infrastructure Planning requires a portfolio, supplemental application, 2 additional recommendation letters

Arjun Anand M.S. ’06, Computer Science Four years after earning his master’s degree in Computer Science, he joined Crowdtap, an influence-marketing platform that provides its clients with technology and data to turn consumers into brand advocates. Today he is the company’s Director of Engineering. Hanaa Hamdi Ph.D. ’12, Urban Systems After graduation, as Director of Health and Human Services, the city’s second largest department, Hanaa oversees numerous public programs. Among them are medical services, from primary care and specialty care to urgent care and mental-health care, and social services that address domestic violence, HIV/AIDS, post-incarceration and much more.

Off-campus Housing Options
Popular choices: Harrison (Walking distance) Kearny (Bus/Shuttle) Jersey City (Train/Bus to NJIT) These towns are very close to the university and offer several affordable (low cost) housing options. Shuttle services available, operates from 3 p.m. until midnight. Only 25 minutes walk to the NJIT from Harrison. Monthly rentals starts from $300 and rise depending on your comfort level. (Homeowners ask for an advance security deposit of 1-2 months rent.) Start looking for apartments, try and network with current students using groups on Facebook (Sanskar, GSA, International Students, etc.)

Almost 2,000 students, and nearly 50 percent of first-year students, live-on NJIT’s campus in five coed residence communities and in the Greek Village. Undergraduate Freshman Opportunities: Albert Dorman Honors College Cypress Hall Redwood Hall Undergraduate Sophomores through Seniors Opportunities: All halls open to upper-classmen as space is available. Graduate Student Opportunity: Apartment-style housing in Oak Hall All residence rooms are fully furnished, air-conditioned, wireless and wired for Internet and cable TV. Each residence community has common areas and facilities including: study space, community kitchens, laundry rooms, recreational game rooms & lounges, and snack and beverage machines.
