3. Evacuation Procedures
In the event of fire, hazardous materials release or other hazardous situations requiring emergency response the buildings may need to be evacuated.
In the event of an alarm event:
Exit the building through the nearest exit
Do not stop to collect personal belongings
Do not use elevators during an emergency event
Go to the nearest gathering area and await instructions
Alarm activation and notification
To activate the alarm locate a pull station and pull lever. Stations are located at exit doors.
The Alarm is a “loud” horn accompanied by a flashing strobe

4. Employee Accountability
North Reading utilizes Fire Wardens to ensure the building is cleared during an evacuation event. The role of the fire warden is that of a volunteer. The fire warden sweeps an area to ensure occupants are evacuating, direct folks to exits and identify employees who may need assistance. Fire wardens report to security that an area is “clear” and/or if assistance is needed. Employees who are disabled and/or injured should speak with a manager/supervisor to ensure they are assigned someone (primary and backup) who will assist with exiting during an evacuation event.

5. Emergency Numbers
If employees need to provide notification of an emergency outside emergency assistance is available through 911.

6. Evacuation Notes Buildings 500, 600 & 700 are separately alarmed.
Buildings 500, 600 and 700 have glass stairwells. During an alarm event metal gates will activate and come down to cover the internal stairwell windows. These gates protect employees as they evacuate.
The fire doors in the main lobby linking buildings 500 and 600 will close during an alarm event. Employees may still egress through the doors to exit via the lobby.
Security will give the all-clear sign when you can return to the building. Do not “leave” the premises or return to your office until you get the all-clear or alternative instructions.

13. First Aid/AEDs
Security maintains basic first aid supplies at the front lobby desk
There are 10 AEDs located within North Reading. Each building has an AED located on the 1st and 2nd floor. AEDs are also located in the cafeteria, security front desk and security office

14. Illness/Injuries
For emergency help in North Reading, dial 911and provide: Name, Location, & Nature of Emergency.
It is extremely important that all work related injuries and illness are reported to your supervisor, even ergonomic issues.

15. Chemicals
Chemicals must be approved prior to entering the North Reading Campus by EHS
A safety data sheet must be provided
If approved, a copy of the safety data sheet will be placed on Teradyne’s online chemical management database “ACTIO”
Actio is available through the internal EHS website
In the event the system is unavailable contact EHS. Backup CDs are available.

17. Hazard Assessments
Hazard Assessments have been conducted to determine appropriate PPE for a job/area. PPE Protects “YOU”!
Your supervisor/manager is responsible for informing you of the required PPE for your work area
PPE is based on the job activity
A hazard assessment was conducted to determine what PPE is required while working at various activities within Teradyne

18. Electrical Safe Work Practices
While it is every employees responsibility to work and act in a safe manner, there are certain locations in the North Reading facility that require additional electrical safe work practices and awareness. To access these areas you will be required to take additional training. These areas generally include all engineering labs and operational floors. Examples include but are not limited to:

19. Electrical Safe Work Practices
If you enter these areas you should be aware of any potential hazards and receive electrical safe work practice training.
If you have not received electrical safe work practice training then you should not enter these areas unless accompanied by someone who has and/or unless you stay in designated safe areas.

20. Manipulator Training
Certain labs are requiring employees who move, assemble or work on the manipulators to receive manipulator training.
You will not receive access to these labs unless this training is completed.
The training is available through the LMS (learning management system)

21. ISO 14001 Teradyne North Reading is ISO 14001 Certified
ISO is an “Environmental Quality Management System”
ISO requires Teradyne to identify activities conducted at the campus and the aspect of that activity with the real or actual potential to impact the environment (air pollution, global warming, water contamination, solid waste generation).
North Reading maintains an “Aspect Register”. The register lists each activity conducted, the aspect of the activity with the potential to impact the environment and what is the potential impact. An example would be the activity of repairing and maintaining boards. The aspect of this activity with the potential to impact the environment is the generation of hazardous waste material and scrap. The potential impact on the environment if done improperly is contamination of groundwater or land. .
Targets and objectives are established each year based on those activities deemed as “significant”. The activities are scored, ranked to determine significance.

22. Primary Elements of ISO 14001
Environmental Policy. The policy is supported by management and posted outside of the cafeteria on the bulletin board. The policy is reviewed annually and changes posted. The policy is posted on the bulletin board outside the cafeteria in building 600, in the main lobby and online under ISO from the Environmental, Health and Safety internal website.
Environmental Aspect Register. These documents are available on the internal web-site under EMS/ISO or by contacting the EHS Group
