Project Abstract The aim of the project is to create a prototype of a portable wireless biometric sensor that can provide doctors/nurses with an efficient way of handling multiple patients in a hospital environment. The battery-powered device is mounted on the wrist and monitors vital health parameters such as pulse rate, SpO2 and skin temperature then transmits the information via WiFi for remote web access. In addition, a NFC chip embedded on the device will allow immediate access to a patient’s charts on any NFC compatible device. The device will also include fall detection as well as a manual and automatic alarm system.
