2. Workshop Goals:
Develop a plan of action for addressing a pedagogical challenge in meteorology
Select topic and plan for further research of interest to the atmospheric science education community
Form a community of practice in order to facilitate further discussion, plans for research, scholarly teaching activities, and the development of future workshops.

3. Getting to know each other:
Take a moment to interview someone you have not met before. You will prepare a very brief introduction of this person to the rest of the group. Be sure you can share:
Name/Organization or school
Courses they typically teach or what type of work they do that relates to education
Biggest challenges they have or expect to have in teaching meteorology/atmospheric science
Favorite thing about teaching
One personal note of interest

4. Day 1: Homework – Designing an activity
As a group, you will develop an idea for an activity to address one of the challenges we have discussed today.
What challenge will you address?
What are the learning goals? Do they address content or skills?
How much time do you have?
What do students already know and what are students comfortable with? (e.g. Are they familiar with Excel, or other software? To what extent will you need to ‘package’ the data?)
How will you assess learning?
What will students do? Will students work in teams or individually?

5. Pedagogical challenges:
Thinking broadly, what are the areas, ideas and concepts that we have the most difficulty teaching meteorology? What haven't we already addressed?
What can we imagine that might help us address some of those needs?
How do we know if they are working?

6. Developing a personal plan of action:
Take a few moments to jot down ONE idea from this workshop that you would like to commit to pursuing in the next 6 months.
What one idea would you like to see this community begin to pursue in the next 6 months?
