By: Jamie Thompson

2 Today we are going to play with our food!
( Yay! )

3 What do you think the pattern looks like?
What fruit is this? What do you think the pattern looks like? Have you ever noticed the pattern on the inside?

4 By lightly dipping or brushing the cut fruits and veggies with paint, they become stamps that we can use to make art!

5 There are lots of options for unique shapes
There are lots of options for unique shapes! Using your first sheet of paper, try out as many different shapes as you can. On your second sheet, use your favorites to create a fun image!

6 Lets Get started! Group 2 Smith I-J Group 3 Smith K-O Group 4
Divide up into your assigned groups Spread the newspaper over the tables in your station to keep things tidy Take turns using the stamps. Try different colors, holding it differently, or applying more than one color of paint! Use your first sheet to experiment with your stamps, then your second sheet to make a picture of your own design. Use your brush to paint details as needed. Put dirty newspaper or paper towels into the paper bag for clean up Group 1 Smith A-E Group 2 Smith I-J Group 3 Smith K-O Group 4 Smith P-T

7 Each GROUP should have:
Each STUDENT should have: One stack of newspaper One roll of paper towels One large plate of cut fruits & veggies One set of plates with tempera paints One large paper bag Two large sheets of heavy weight paper One flat-tip paint brush One round-tip paint brush One small cup of water One art apron

8 What should you do if your prints are smudgy, blobby or unclear?
Not use that fruit/veggie anymore Add more paint and try again Wipe off excess paint and try again

9 UH-Oh! That’s not quite right!
Adding more paint only makes the stamp print smudge so for defined shapes dip lightly or use your brush to apply the paint to your stamp. If a stamp doesn’t work the first time, don’t give up. Your first paper is for practice, so keep trying! Try Again

10 Hooray! You Got it right! NEXT
When there is too much paint on the stamp, the print will be unclear so dip lightly or use your brush to apply the paint to your stamp. If too much paint builds up, wipe off the excess with a paper towel. Be sure to throw the paper towel away in the paper bag to keep your station tidy! NEXT

11 Have Fun! Place your prints on the drying rack when you are finished & clean up your station.
