Presentation on theme: "How does this make you feel?"— Presentation transcript:

1 How does this make you feel?
With sadness… How does this make you feel? In the last 30 minutes Buckingham Palace have announced that Queen Elizabeth II has died. Prince Charles has said: ‘his beloved mother, Queen Elizabeth 11, died peacefully in her sleep last night.’ A number of tweets and condolences have been made to Prince Charles and his family.

2 Have you ever read something that has turned out to be not true/fake?
Is it true? Firstly, NO! This is just one example of fake news. What is fake news? Fake news is a type of journalism that consists of deliberate misinformation or hoaxes spread via the traditional print, broadcasting news media, or via Internet-based social media. Have you ever read something that has turned out to be not true/fake?

3 How can we tell what is fake news and what is real news?
If you want to try to make sure that you don't get caught out by fake news, there a few things you can look out for. Ask yourself: Has the story been reported anywhere else? Is it on the radio, TV or in the newspapers? Have you heard of the organisation that published the story? Does the website where you found the story look genuine? (meaning it doesn't look like a copycat website that's designed to look like another genuine website) Does the website address at the very top of the page look real? Is the end of the website something normal like '.co.uk' or '.com', and not something unusual, like 'com.co'? Does the photo or video look normal? Does the story sound believable? If the answer to any of these questions is 'no', you might want to check it out a bit more, before spreading the word. Remember the next time you like or share a post think: is it fake?
