How much does this benefit Riot? Cost Surprisingly, despite all the viewers, Riot Games pays more money than they earn from these World Championships. Why do they continue? Player base skyrockets after every Championship, eventually resulting in more microtransactions. Once again, player focused Riot prioritizes players enjoying the game, by watching or by playing.
