We have an opportunity in the middle of the school year to remind and refresh our drivers and every member of our safety team.

The Cyr Foundation is proud to bring you a School Transportation Law Course. Instructors will include attorneys from Harris Beach, PLLC.
4-hour course will include textbook and thumb drive containing all materials used in the course
Registration of $145 per Member; $195 for non-members
Dates on NYAPT/Cyr Website include: >May 3rd at Orange-Ulster BOCES >May 10th at Genesee Valley BOCES/Leroy >May 24th at Suffolk Transportation/Bay Shore >May 30th at Madison-Oneida BOCES
All courses begin at 8 AM and end at or about 12 NOON

5. REPORT ON STATE BUDGET FINAL BUDGET ADOPTED ON MARCH 31st:
Growth Cap Win!: The Legislature rejected the Governor’s proposal for a prospective 2% growth cap on all Expense-Based Aids, including Transportation Aid. Members should be proud of the work of our Legislative Committee and the Board in SUCCESSFULLY combatting this proposal.
Overall increase in Education Aid (Foundation Aid): $ million (to $17.79 billion)
Overall increase in Transportation Aid: $94,866,679 (to $1,911,373,142)
Funding for Bus Driver Training Fund: $400,000
Trans Aid: The Legislature fully funded school Transportation Aid for the coming year:

NYAPT and Cyr will elect officers and Board members in July!
These are the NYAPT Offices that are open for to candidates who wish to serve: President-Elect; Vice President; Secretary; Treasurer
Nominations must be sent to NYAPT Secretary James Popkin.
ACTIVE members in good standing are eligible to serve as an officer.
The Cyr Foundation will elect 4 NYAPT seats and 2 Public Seats for its Board of Directors. To complete an application form, please go to today!

10. WHY THE LGBTQ COURSE… Gender-based bullying is at an all time high.
School bus drivers are not always familiar with the LGBTQ issues and sensitivities.
We need to do all we can to enable them to keep the ride safe for ALL children.
The Cyr Foundation is offering a program with PTSI to increase awareness and sensitivity to LGBTQ students.
Drivers (attendants) will learn ways to prevent and lessen the effects of bullying for these students.
It’s IMPORTANT for these team members to share in this program!
