God’s Attributes
2
Transcendent In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.
Genesis 1:1 Who has directed the Spirit of the Lord, or as his conselor has instructed him? Whom did he consult for his enlightenment, and who taught him the path of justice, and taught him knowledge, and showed him the way of understanding? Behold, the nations are like a drop from the bucket, and are accounted as dust on the scales…all nations are as nothing before him, they are accounted by him as less than nothing and emptiness.” Isaiah 40:13ff

Immanent Cast your burden on the Lord, and he will sustain you; he will never permit the righteous to be moved. But you, O God, will cast them down into the lowest pit; men of blood and treachery shall not live half their days. Psalm 55:22-23 Humble yourself under the mighty hand of God, that in due time he may exalt you. Cast all your anxieties on him, for he cares about you. 1 Peter 5:6-7
4
Pure Spirit The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He does not faint or grow weary… Isaiah 40:28 But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshippers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for such the Father seeks to worship him. God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth. John 4:23-24
5
Perfect You, therefore, must be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect. Matthew 5:48 Then the Lord answered Job out of the whirlwind: “Gird up your loins like a man; I will question you and you will declare to me… Who has given to me, that I should repay him? Whatever is under the whole heaven is mine. Job 40:6-7, 41:11
6
Unchanging Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.
Hebrews 13:8 All good giving and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no alteration or shadow caused by change. James 1:17
7
Eternal Lord, you have been our dwelling place in all generations. Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever you had formed the earth and the world, from everlasting to everlasting you are God. Psalm 90:1-2 Then Moses said to God, “If I come to the sons of Israel and say to them, ‘The God of your fathers has sent me to you,’ and they ask me, ‘What is his name?’ what shall I say to them? God said to Moses, “I am who I am.” Exodus 3:12-14

Omnibenevolent Everything created by God is good, and nothing is to be rejected when received with thanksgiving. 1 Timothy 4:4 He fashioned all things that they might have being, and the creatures of the world are wholesome. There is not a destructive drug among them nor any domain of Hades on earth, for righteousness is undying. Wisdom 1:14-15

Omniscient Hear this, O Job; stop and consider the wondrous works of God. Do you know how God lays his command upon them, and causes the lightning of his cloud to shine? Do you know the balancings of the clouds, the wondrous works of him who is perfect in knowledge… Job 37:14-16
10
Omnipotent Then Job answered the Lord and said: “I know that you can do all things and that no purpose of yours can be hindered.” Job 42:1-2 Nothing will be impossible with God. Luke 1:37
11
Omnipresent Where can I go from your spirit? From your presence, where can I flee? If I ascend to the heavens you are there; if I lie down in Sheol, there you are. Psalm 139:7-8 He is before all things, and in him all things hold together. Colossians 1:17
