Vision Statement The vision of Clayton County Public Schools is to be a district of excellence preparing ALL students to live and compete successfully in a global society. Mission Statement The mission of Clayton County Public Schools is to be accountable to all stakeholders for providing a globally competitive education that empowers students to achieve academic and personal goals and to become college and career ready, productive, responsible citizens.

8 Local School Council Seats
Who Serves on a School Council? At a minimum, a School Council is composed of seven members: The Principal Two certificated teachers elected by the teachers Four parents (or guardians) elected by the parents; two of the parents must be businesspersons

9 The school council may, within its bylaws, increase the number of members as long as the parents remain the majority. Staff members, students, and members of school-related organizations such as the PTA/PTO may also be members and are selected according to the school council’s bylaws. Other businesspersons from the community may serve on the council and shall be selected by the other members of the school council.

10 All members of the School Council must:
Maintain a school-wide perspective on issues, Regularly participate in council meetings, Participate in information and training programs, Act as a link between the school council and the community, Encourage the participation of parents and others within the school community, and Work to improve student achievement and performance.

11 How do School Councils Conduct Business?
All meetings are open to the public. School councils must meet four or more times a year as stated in their bylaws. A quorum, which is a majority of the members, must be present at the meeting. The council may appoint committees, study groups, and task forces. Meetings are subject to the Open Meetings Act. Records are subject to the Open Records Act.

19 Goal 1: To increase academic achievement for all students in Clayton County Public Schools as evidenced by state, national, and international assessment results. Goal 2: To provide and maintain a safe, orderly and secure learning environment. Goal 3: To create an environment that promotes active engagement, accountability, and collaboration of all stakeholders to maximize student achievement. Goal 4: To effectively communicate the system's vision and purpose and allow stakeholder involvement in an effort to build understanding and support. Goal 5: To provide high quality support services delivered on time and within budget to promote student academic success in the Clayton County Public Schools. Goal 6: To recruit and retain highly qualified and effective staff.
