Autonomous company- Orange is not operated by the government TNC- Transnational Corporation, operate worldwide Believed to serve more than 230 million customers worldwide Have the most of their customers in: France customers, UK customers, and Egypt 80 % of the market share in Mali - this makes them a monopoly.

Was acquired by France Télécom in the year 2000 Was initially 100 % owned by France Télécom In 2001 an IPO bought 15 % of the shares 2 years later France Télécom bought them back France Télécom became autonomous in 1990 Current CEO - Stéphane Richard

4 Where Orange + the Foundation operate
Headquartered in Paris, France The Foundation works mostly in Europe, Africa, Asia and the Middle East Works in places such as Botswana, Kenya, Romania, India

5 Orange Foundation pt 1 Mission- to improve and help people to communicate more effectively Purpose- to support projects related to health, disability, education, as well as culture Orange Foundation aims to spark interests and ambitions New technology is a priority, involves digital education, which expands horizons and builds professionalism Equips and supports treatment centres

6 Orange Foundation pt 2 Introducing new technologies to help people who are suffering from illnesses/ conditions Leading sponsor of opera broadcasts, they support young artists Closely involved with local population, they are adaptable The work towards providing stronger social and community bonds Even received a top award for their solidarity by ADMICAL in 1995

7 Reducing disparity In 2006 launched Orange Money - payment service in Africa Enables people to work further from home, more work opportunity Increase the standards of living: -Providing access to health care programmes -Teaching young people how to work with computers through workshops -Providing women with access to education and books, empowering women (MDG goals 2 and 3) -Providing nutritious meals, school uniforms and shoes, personal hygiene products. (MDG goals 1, 2, 3) Women in Pokot, a region in Kenya, receive support in the form of education, raised health awareness, and they are seeing positive changes and further growth and development in the future.

8 Orange Money Operates in 14 countries and has 15+ million customers
Simply to manage money via phone without having a bank account More than ⅔ of Africa’s population have a phone Not even 25 % of African population has bank accounts No bank account charges and you only get taxed on transactions Are now able to send money to family far away In 2014 €400 million worth of transactions went through Orange Money

9 Increasing disparity Increase in disparities within regions or even countries as people within a region/country do not get the same opportunities - opportunity gap Leads to income disparity Increase/decrease in housing prices Growing gap caused by the accessibility of healthcare and education Areas are not developing at the same rate- causes disparities Risk of dependency
