1 How to Figure Out How Much to Charge
From Blogger to Freelance Writer

2 How to Figure Out Your Writing Rates
So when you’re trying to figure out what to charge, the worst thing you can do is go off of what other people are charging. Even knowing the “going rate” for freelance writing will probably not help you but I’ll tell you anyway… Anywhere from $5 to $1000 per article is the going rate. I’m so serious! Charging a rate is all about the type of value that you’re bringing to the table. Luckily for you, bloggers have a unique set of skills that other new writers don’t have!

3 How to Figure Out Your Writing Rates
It can be really tricky when it comes to asking for money. It’s scary, you can feel like you’re not good enough, like you’re just a newbie and you don’t deserve to charge too much money. Let me tell you now: YOU HAVE SO MUCH TO OFFER! DON’T DOUBT YOURSELF FOR ONE MINUTE! You have to really pump yourself up when you tell your first potential client your price, because you can feel bad about how much you charge. Throw this shame out the door!

4 Getting Past Mental Money Blocks
Is the hairdresser feeling guilty when they ask you to pay $150 for their service? Or what about the manicurist when they ask you for $50 for those nails and toes? And don’t forget every other bill and service that ask you for money on a daily basis. And you pay them without blinking an eye… The same goes for entrepreneurs and business owners. Your writing is just another service and they know you have to pay for a great writer! The point of this lesson is, don’t feel bad about charging for your services because no one feels bad about charging you.

5 The Formula for Finding Your Perfect Price
So now that we’ve gotten comfortable with asking for money here is the formula that I personally use to decide how much I’m going to charge for a writing assignment. What’s the level of difficulty? Is this a topic that I know very well or is this something that is going to require extensive research? Premium charged for extensive research What’s the length requirement? Am I going to need to write a 500 word article or a word article with images, videos, and click to tweets? Premium charged for the more extensive one. What’s the turnaround time? Is it a 24 hour turnaround time with a new post due every single day or is it one extensively researched article due once per week? How much time am I willing to sacrifice and for what price? This is a huge one and a question only you can answer. What is your time worth? I know that you’re a blogger and you have other things you want to focus on so you have to decide if writing this article is worth 2-3 hours of your time for only $20.

6 The Formula for Finding Your Perfect Price
Level of Difficulty + Length Requirement + Turnaround Time + How Much am I Willing to Sacrifice = Your Price!

7 The Formula for Finding Your Perfect Price
So this may not be the answer that you were looking for, but pricing your services is going to take some serious introspection. When you don’t charge what you require, your resentment will build up and it will show in your work. You have to always charge what you’re worth even if that means turning down several clients until you find your ideal clients. This formula will also prepare you to price your own blogging services, coaching services, digital products or anything else you sell online.
