PSAT Interpretation/ Dual Credit Night- January 17, 2018 Course Fair- January 29, 2018 Re-registration the week of Feb. 5th, 2018 Dual credit ApplyTexas deadline – Feb.12th, 2018 Career Night – April 24, 2018, 6:00 – 8:00pm at BAC

4 Promotion Policy 10th Grade Credits 11th Grade Credits 12th Grade Credits OR the student is able to enroll in all courses needed to graduate at the end of school year. STAAR/EOC The required EOC exams will be English I, English II, Algebra I, Biology and US History. Passing scores are part of graduation requirements.

6 Benefits of Taking Pre-AP Courses
Great preparation for AP/DC classes Rigorous courses in high school better prepares students for college courses Grades are weighted (1.29 for AP!) Colleges look for rigorous coursework

7 RANK IN CLASS Required graduation courses, up to a maximum of 26 credits, taken in grades 9 to 12 through the end of the 7th semester will be used to calculate class rank. Elective courses that produce the highest weighted grade will be used to calculate rank. Class rank will be based upon a weighted grade average

8 Weighted Grade Averages
WGPA are determined by multiplying each semester grade of a ranked course by a rank factor and computing an average. Course Level AP, GT/AP, and Dual Credit AP – 1.29 Pre AP, Honors, Dual Credit non-AP – 1.15 Regular -1.0 The WGA determines rank in class.

9 HONOR GRADUATES Students achieving high standards of academic excellence shall be recognized at graduation as honor graduates based on the following criteria: Completion of the Foundations High School Program with an Endorsement and/or the Distinguished Level of Achievement Everything completed through the end of the 1st semester of your senior year. Overall Weighted grade average of a 90 or above

11 COLLEGE CREDIT OPPORTUNITIES
Take AP classes and AP tests at the end of the year to earn college credit Take dual credit classes (watch for details beginning December and need to apply by early spring for next school year) Dual Credit Courses Offered US History-AP, College Algebra, and English IV AP IPET, PET, Auto-Tech, Aerospace and Diesel Mechanics Requirements: Dual Credit packet, forms, TSI testing

12 Resources for College College Board provides many free resources to assist with PSAT, SAT and AccuPlacer. Café College is a one stop shop for college access, advice and guidance. All services are free of charge. Khan Academy is a free resource that offers tutoring as well as test prep.
