75th Anniversary of DDAY – Performances in Paris, Normandy, Ste. Mere Eglise, and Ste. Michel.

2. Who is eligible?
All Students that are going to either graduate or enroll in high school in the MSBSD during 2019.
Students that graduate in 2019
Students that are freshman in the fall of 2019
Everyone in between

3. Must be in Marching band at either their home school (or if home school doesn’t march at Colony)
Must be in Concert band/Symphonic Band also. Symphonic Band at CHS will be moving to first period to help those at CTHS/Middle College

4. What is the itinerary? June 4 – Travel Day
June 5 – Arrive in Paris/Transfer to Normandy. Visit Arromanches.
June 6 – Visit American Cemetery at Brittany and perform. Visit St. Michel.
June 7 – Visit Omaha Beach and perform. Tour Pointe Du Hoc and Utah Beach

5. June 8 – Visit Ste. Mere Eglise
June 8 – Visit Ste. Mere Eglise. Parade and additional performance in town square. Either depart for Paris or visit WWI trenches/monuments in Vimy.
June 9 – Eiffel Toweror WWI trenches in the morning, Notre Dame, Champs Elysees, Arch de Triomphe, Opera, Montmartre.
June 10 – Louvre, Performance at Luxembourg Gardens, Souvenir shopping
June 11 – Depart Paris/Travel Day

6. What are the performances
We will perform in two mass performances (with other invited groups) at the two cemeteries we visit in Normandy.
There is a parade in Ste. Mere Eglise.
There is a performance in the town square at Ste. Mere Eglise.
There is a performance in Paris at the Luxembourg Gardens.

7. Travel Expectations
This is a school trip and each participant and chaperone will be representing the United States. All school rules will be in effect for students and adults.
No drinking.
No smoking.
No swearing.
Act appropriately at all times leading up to and through the end of the trip.

8. Rehearsals
All rehearsals for marching band and concert/symphonic band will be done by your local school teacher.
If you participate at Colony we will be doing band camp July 30th-August 10th 2018 and every day after school from 2:35-4:15 through football season.

9. ALL STUDENTS REGARDLESS OF HOME SCHOOL will rehearse the following days. These are required and cannot be missed. MAY 27, 2019 (Memorial Day) 8:00am-12:00 noon. May 28, :00am-12:00 noon. May 29, :00am-12:00 noon. May :00am-12:00 noon. May :00am-12:00 noon.
All music must be memorized BEFORE rehearsal on May 27th.

10. Extra Study
The week of practice in May will include required study regarding the history of WWI and WWII. This class will be held from 12:30-1:30 at CHS. We will watch film segments, study maps, and discuss the significance of these events. Topic outlines will include. Monday – WWI and events leading up to WWII, the early stages of the war. Tuesday – How the US joined the war effort. Wednesday – DDAY Thursday – The Holocaust Friday – Victory in Europe, Victory in Japan, Post war.
