Introduction  An IoT is a network that connects uniquely identifiable things to the Internet.  The first word is “Internet” and the second word is “Things”.  The Internet is the global system of interconnected computer networks that use the internet protocols (TCP/IP) to link devices worldwide.

 The things have sensing /actuation and potential programmability capabilities.  The things offer services, with or without human intervention, through the exploitation of unique identification, data capture and communication, and actuation capability.  All the things in the campus should have to connect to the internet by giving each object unique address.  All the objects will be converted to smart objects by attaching them sensors.  Things: is an entity or physical object that has a Unique identifier.

Smart Campus Concept and Service  A campus network system is a building or group of buildings all connected into one enterprise network that consists of many local-area networks LAN. The smart campus brings different services as follows:  Smart Campus is a fashionable application in the standard of the internet of things.

 Smart Environment: According to Cook and Das, smart environment as "a small world where different kinds of smart device are continuously working to make inhabitants' lives more comfortable.  Smart Security: This service is based on collecting real time data by using a different device and sensors. These devices can collect data and store to the cloud.

 Smart parking: This service uses a parking sensor that allows the users to detect available parking spots by placing the node on the placement.  Smart Buildings: Smart devices will be more self-administering and clever by the way they share information with building mechanization frameworks and the cloud..  Smart office and classroom: IoT systems have applications across offices and class rooms through their unique flexibility and ability to be suitable in any environment.

Literature review  To create smart campus Zigbee protocol is used to increase the campus security, smart office, valuable things, student record, smart class and so on. In such away that the quality of the campus will increase.  the ZigBee protocol will be used to manage campus as the result of the use of Wireless Sensor Network (WSN).

 Several scholars introduced Zigbee protocol like: Yepeng Ni et al.he introduced that Zigbee gateway is completely suitable for the needs of the smart campus by improving the performance of the gateway.  Yepeng Ni et al. (2013) describes the design and implementation of the gateway software and hardware.

Problem Statement The problem arises when the campus does not use IOT. Since it has large area, it becomes difficult to manage and track everything that happens in the campus. Hence fully automated system for monitoring and controlling all the components in the smart campus is needed by using wireless sensor network. objectives  The main objective is to design and implement an internet of things based system for the components of the campus  To Implement some parts of the smart campus by using simulator.  Compare the existing system with the proposed system

Discussion of the existing system Figure. Campus network overview

The proposed system has three parts: - o Things o IoT Gateway o Network and Cloud IOT gateway : The major function of the IoT gateway is device connectivity, protocol translation, data filtering, processing, security, and management.

ZigBee communication protocol  In the IoT world, sensors must be communicated with each other to exchange information.  It is an open, global, packet based protocol designed to provide an easy to use architecture for secure, reliable, low power wireless network.  It supports three types of network topology like star, mesh and cluster tree network topology

 ZigBee provides routing and multi-hop functions to the packet-based radio protocol. One of the devices of Zigbee is:  A network coordinator :is a device that sets up the network, is aware of all the nodes within its network, and manages both the information about each node as well as the information that is being transmitted/ received within the network.

The table below shows the function of ZigBee logical device types.

IoT Server  Used To collect and store data from the wireless sensor network through the IoT gateway there must be a server which is connected to the internet.  On this server, there is a website that is used to access and control the sensors through the IoT gateway.

Implementation of the proposed system o To create smart campus the components are the main areas which IOT system is implemented. o simulation based system is created for some of the components of the campus to show the feasibility of the proposed system using simulation software called cisco packet tracer v7.0. o This simulation software support the internet of things, to show the IOT system is implemented.

Conclusion  This implementation concept of Internet of Things and its applicability is discussed in present work. Using Internet of things it is found that devices are coordinated with the virtual universe of the web and collaborate with it by tracking, sensing and monitoring objects.  It has been shown how to successfully build a smart campus that will embrace progressed ICT'S to consequently screen and control each activity and events inside a campus using IoT.
