1 The Chesterton Academy a classical curriculum track in Catholic Central High School

2 Mission Statement The mission of Chesterton Academy and the classical curriculum track in Catholic Central is to raise up a generation of joyful leaders and saints, educated in the classical tradition and the truths of the Catholic faith, abounding in the skills and character requisite for success in college and professional life, and to excel in service of family, of country, and of Christ our Lord. In the words of G.K. Chesterton, we seek to teach our students that “there is a whole truth of things and that in knowing and speaking it we are happy.”

3 ` In this classical curriculum track we seek to form our students:
Spiritually, to use the skills they acquire at Chesterton Academy in Faith, Hope, and Charity to build up the Kingdom of God in this life and be with Him in everlasting happiness in the next. Intellectually, by teaching them not only the great classics of Western thought from philosophy to physics, but the interrelationship of the great ideas, to teach them not merely what to think but how to think; Character, especially in the four cardinal virtues of Prudence, Temperance, Fortitude and Justice, which we believe are the foundation of leadership; `

4 What is the Classical curriculum Track?
Students in the classical curriculum track enjoy a cohesive, content-rich education. History, Literature, Philosophy, and Theology are taught Our students benefit from a broad exposure to many different disciplines, which helps expand their interests and their ability to think critically, analyze, problem solve, and communicate with their peers.

5 What is the Classical curriculum Track?
Intellectual formation at Chesterton Academy begins with a classical, integrated curriculum. Students read Homer, Plato, Aristotle, Euclid, Virgil, Dante, Chaucer, Shakespeare, St. Francis of Assisi, St. Thomas Aquinas, St. Teresa of Avila, Dostoyevsky. . . and G.K. Chesterton. Chesterton students study the Old Testament, the New Testament, and the Catechism of the Catholic Church. History, literature, philosophy, and theology are integrated together. The sciences and the humanities are also intimately connected, so that the logic of math is seen in philosophy, and God’s handiwork is seen in the sciences.

6 What do you really want for your child from their high school experience?
